Back to back 10 win seasons for the first time since the 80's. Yeah I can see why we should be pissed off.

A&M's problem was defense and they hired Sumlin
to go into a defensive league

Wasnt the problem for yall this season blowing huge leads?....Go get smart to be yalls DC and be done....he runs a 3-4 and he needs to get out from under Saban before he is taken seriously by top programs. If yall have sumlin and smart then yall may be able to compete sooner rather than later

No chance Smart leaves Bama for a lateral move to A&M. It would set him back a few years to being head coach. He'll go the Chizik route if he can't go the Muschamp route.

And we could hire Nick Saban and not be as good as half the SEC on D next year. We can't jeopardize our offense in the interim. Hire Sumlin and let him keep the DCo already on staff that has done wonders. Keep that D improving and get better game management and recruiting from the head coach and we'll be ok

I hope we retain our DC along with the LB coaches and the DL coach. We need a new DB coach. McMillain has to go.

On offense I would like to see OL coach Turner retained. I'm fine with Sumlin bringing Kliff Kingsbury as his QB coach from UH. I would kill for Larry Porter as RB coach. Still need a WR coach, an OC and the GAs

And IM the one who doesnt know a thing. I am rational. Ive been more plugged into the search than 90% of people. Clean out the old staff. You need to start fresh. Sumlin is at best a Tier 2 hire for a Tier 2 team. Answer me this. What is your over/under for wins next year. I think 6 is about right. We will repeat this process in about 4 years.

Over/under set at 6.5 for 2012

And it's not certain that any staff stays but I've heard that Turner on offense and most of the D staff excluding McMillain are candidates for the new staff.

There will be holdovers from the last staff. You can blew dat

That is the Muschamp route. He was LSU DC with Saban went with him to the dolphins and then got out on his own at Auburn and UT. IMO to get a big time job (ie not an Ole Miss) he needs to show he can do it without saban.

it would do the exact opposite

but any guy with that haircut doesn't have the confidence to put himself out there like that. He'll stay under Saban's little thumb until he gets a good HC gig.

But that hasn't worked in the SEC. It worked ok for Richt but no NCs.

Miles, Saban, Meyer, Chizik, Spurrier all had head coaching experience

Why? Lots of successful coordinators are HC busts. I think they are a bigger risk and more unproven. Personally I'd prefer someone with more "executive experience," at a lower level, who is also on an upward trend in their career.

I'd rather have Saban or Miles, who are good examples of coaches hired on the upward trend from lesser programs, than former coordinators like Charlie Weiss. I guess I'm cherry picking a bit there, but my point is the ideal hire is someone on the rise, with proven executive experience at a lower level program.
