How so?

What did LSU and Alleva do to Herman?

so lets say we get into a bidding war with Texas and instead of having to pay 5 mil they end up paying him 7 mil a year...then Texas says frick LSU lets go pay whatever it takes to get DA out of spite

That is an assumption based on the thought that Texas would be as petty as Alleva and care more about a slight than correcting their currently sinking ship. I would gamble that they would be less willing to do that, especially having $2mm more committed per year as it is.

By the time Herman decided to listen to UT, Alleva knew Herman was going to go to Texas all things equal. Hell, the handshake deal they had was done with the understanding that he had already moved on from Texas. LSU didn't move toward Herman until Herman's deadline with Texas passed and Herman's people let LSU know that he'd be willing to take an offer that was acceptable. All of that was done before Herman decided he wanted to listen to Texas.

EVERYONE knew that Herman would choose Texas if it was an option. For about 2 days, we thought Texas either dropped the ball or just didn't covet Herman the way we thought...so he became an option all of a sudden.

Alleva fricked this up. But, it wasn't when he moved on from Herman. The writing was on the wall at that point.

He also said "pressure is that uneasy feeling you get when you're unprepared".

if he actually believes that then he doesn't know what real pressure is. I like Lee Trevino's definition of pressure......"pressure is when you have a 10 foot putt to tie a match where you bet $1000 and you only have $500."

He said "It was a no-brainer to come to UT." The way he said it really seemed like a huge slap in the face to Houston and his former players.

It is a no brainer. Houston is a fine program but it ain't Texas. There aren't many coaches in America that wouldn't take that job. Darrell Royal, Fred Akers. SWC championships, the burnt orange, lots of money. tough to turn down. I'm just glad our program is in the same class and we don't have to worry about losing shite to Texas.

At least you weren't at an Art Briles presser, your claims of being rubbed the wrong way would have been swept under the proverbial rug

Wait... what? So you'd rather us do nothing and then look stupid then at least try to get our guy and probably not look stupid at all? I'm honestly baffled by things people are coming up with to defend Alleva. His actions confirmed everyone's suspicion that he is a clown and in way over his head

Whats crazy is that I think the fanbase will be even more divided with this hire. Not because people dislike O, but because of JA's process of finding a new coach.

If you call it a 'process'

Yeah, I'm sure that he will be able to handle the boosters there. Those guys chew coaches up and spit them out for breakfast. Imagine Jerry Jones X 10.

The only reason Mack Brown was able to survive for as long as he did was because he had a very good track record prior to his hire

unreal. This mentality is why our D line coach from the Miles Era is our head coach.

He's telling the truth. When it became obvious that Strong was going, it was a no brainer for Herman. He wanted that job. People who think interviewing him may have made a difference are living a pipe dream. We were never getting him over TX. Period.

A fanatical devotee to a person or a cause will engage in whatever twisting of logic or facts that's necessary for them to come to the conclusion that their worshipped person or thing has acted in the smartest, best and most correct manner.

There's no point in arguing with a true LSU fan about the new LSU hire. Objective rational people can see the reality of the situation with their own eyes. A fanatic is neither rational nor objective.
