You may be right, but Sabans 60 minute comments suggest otherwise. He indicated that he would have not commented at all on the Miami situation if he could do it all again. I think any Coach contemplating another job, should simply say that "that team X has a coach, I am not going to comment on speculation". But that is just me. Whatever happens I wish him well, he is a damn fine coach any team would be grateful to have.

While I don't feel sorry for any big time coach, they are put in some awkward positions - we expect them to be unfailingly loyal to our school, get mad if they waffle even a bit in their confirmation of that loyalty, and then crucify them for leaving. Saban's a great coach - there are several of them out there although he may be the best. I just Texas to find one of them.

I still think the no brainer for Texas is Richt at UGA. He had his chance last year at UGA to win it all. He seems the type of HC that would be a perfect fit for Texas and he can recruit. I see him looking at the same thing Meyer did when he left UF and ended up at OSU. Get out while you can and Texas would be a better job for him than UGA.

In my opinion at Texas Richt would be contending for a NC every year.

I do find it interesting that I haven't heard or read Richt or Miles names coming up in Texas circles/websites. And both are really good coaches that I think have to make the cut in any initial list of candidates. Whether they make it to the final 2-3 candidates? Who knows but still two guys you have to consider.

A very short time before announcing that he was taking the bama job, saban said "They have a coach."

he has said that about the Texas job too.

Dumb to go for NFL HC's IMO. Most of them aren't used to having to play to 15-18 yr old kids egos. Recruiting is the lifeblood of all schools, and you need a HC that wants to recruit if you are UTx. ATM is doing work right now.

Upon the REC hearing that, they RECtified the situation and ran Shula out on a rail.

On that occasion that, was a perfect reply. Flat denials are what come back to haunt you. Sabans Miami "I will not be" comment has been played thousands of times, that was the one I think he would like back.

Honest question: What does Bama look like next year in terms of what they lose through draft, schedule, etc.

I know they always have a top recruiting class so I'm sure there is a lot of talent in the pipeline, but I have no idea what kind of experience they'll lose (besides QB of course).

I think that might have some impact.

losing a 4 year starter at QB, their starting LT, and quite a few playmakers on defense….
