Wasn't the stint at Bama a really short one since he and Saban didn't see eye to eye?

$$$$$

He makes 260k. Porter was making 315k.

true. no way Texas could get him a raise (sarcasm)... plus Porter was our top recruiter. I doubt Applewhite would be.

I like the choice of Applewhite, but I don't see it happening for money. The only hope would be for the Baton Rouge connection. I just don't see it this year.

No thanks. His coaching resume isn't even that good.

Agreed. Although I'd love to have him as QB coach at LSU, just not OC.

the interesting fact about applewhite is that I'm sure he thought he would move up fast at UT, being a former player, etc...he's prolly a little po'd that muskrat is heir apparent...if nothing else, he'd prolly be a good qb coach...we need someone who can spend a lot of time developing the key/most important position on the field

he almost got fired from bama and his RBs at UT the last two years have been mediocre at best

FWIW, I heard he wasn't really given a chance to succeed at Bama. As has been reported by insiders before, no decent OC wants to work for Saban.

That said, I still wouldn't want him as OC just yet. He still needs some more experience IMO.

I've seen a couple of suggestions to hire a QB/RB coach.

Unless GT and Paul Johnson are hiring an offensive asst., you will not see a major NCAA football staff hire one man for that position.

The details involved with developing a QB are so numerous you would never want one man working with two positions like that.

Alot of spread teams have an Inside WRs coach AND an Outside WRs coach. That's TWO coaches just WRs!!

As for Major coming to LSU...we have no current openings. However, you would be hard-pressed to find a more respected young country in the country.

He could go into any HS coach in TX/LA and have instant credibility and trust!

seen Major talk at at clinic and he is sharp. Something tells me his is happy at Texas and is pretty much the OC in waiting there. Im sure his responsibilities are more than just RBs

No I did not like his recruiting tactics and would not want him in P&G ever.

I guess I stand corrected.

I should now say several.

I guess I'm biased.

I hope he stays at UT, but I know as soon as Simms retires Brown will give Simms Major's job.
