but arkansas isn't going to get a great/amazing coach very often

I would not be a bit surprised to see Brandon Mitchell back at QB in a similar role that Russell Wilson played for Wisky in 2011

The Allen kid that is at Fayetteville High is going to be QB after the brother plays for next 3 years. I think Mitchell is going to be a WR like Abedarros.

pretty important question; from what i've seen mitchell is not an extremely accurate passer especially when compared to a guy like russell wilson.

And when have you seen Brandon Mitchell throw a bunch of passes? He's been behind Tyler Wilson and Ryan Mallett. He hasn't gotten the 1st team reps.

In all likelihood, he might not even play QB next season. But I, and quite a few others, like him quite a lot. Petrino loved him. He throws a VERY good deep ball.

I'm not saying he'd be all-SEC or anything, but I think he'd be a better QB than Casey Dick after the 3 years he's spent learning from Petrino.

you listed some qualification necessary for the Ark HC. none of those seem to apply to BB. did you change your qualifications list post hire to make yourself feel better?

In your view, is all sickness death? Just because we didn't hire someone that fit MY view of what the hire should look like doesn't mean that it won't work. Simpleton.

Recruiting in TX: Still a question mark. Bielema doesn't have it, but he could easily put together a staff that does.

Developing QB's: Still a question mark. Bielema doesn't have it (although they've averaged 2600 yards passing per year, which would be record setting for us until Petrino got here), but he can easily hire a QB coach that can do help sell our ability to develop QBs.

Offensive philosophy: I don't think we'll ever beat Bama/LSU at their game consistently. I hope Bielema recognizes that and throws the ball a BIT more than you guys do. Instead of 30-35% running pass plays, 35-40%. If he doesn't, I could see us being a better version of Houston Nutt's teams. Strong running games, mediocre passing attack, but with a much better defense.

Speaking of defense: I didn't talk a lot about this, but Bielema should get plenty of respect in the SEC for being a good defensive coach right? I don't think I mentioned this as a requirement, but it should have gone without saying. He's got a defensive pedigree, but it all hinges on his staff.

i'm gonna be honest since the hiring is over now, i personally dgaf what you all (non hogs that is) think about 1. the hire 2. brandon mitchell's qb ability 3. the hog call 4. who we offered 5. what you are eating for dinner.

he moved to WR to get on the field. Something he would not have done behind TW. Petrino really didn't have much of a package for a mobile QB so he figured get on the field at WR and log some playing time and try to help the TEAM. I will take a guy who puts the team 1st at QB any day.

I agree and it's great he was willing to do that but right now he is behind Allen for the starting job right now.

you'd think a "bigger russell wilson" would have been able to crack the 2 deep on a depth chart.

starting to think it's a good hire. Yesterday I was dang near devastated but the longer I think on it the more I like it.

Really! What's not to like about Bielema? He has the credentials and is about as high a tier 1 coach as you folks could have ever hoped for.

Gundy, Bielema, Petersen, Patterson are all in the same zip code. They have different styles and incorporate a different mentality, but they are all very good coaches.

Arkansas did well.

I just hope Miles puts in a Russell Wilson package for Anthony Jennings next year. He's a faster Russell Wilson IMO.

Yeah he is very very good. Sadly, I feel he might be wasted like Shepard.

shep was "wasted" because he was woefully inaccurate and had a noodle arm.

Jennings is a pocket passer with mobility. Big difference man.

I think Jennings is the player Miles wanted JJ to be honestly.

Yeah. It will be interesting to see who gets the early lead in the QB race between he and Rettig. Both are great HS QB's that are underrated nationally.
