Not a crazy raise, but I think Butch wanted more money for his assistants anyway

Good deal. I was honestly expecting him to be in the 3.75 range. Gillespie and Thigpen both need to get a bump imo.

Hart is playing right, IMO. Less base, but more incentives and more pay for assistants. If Butch wins next year, I'm guessing the incentives will push him into that range

While I agree with the premise and posted something similar in nature to the Butch to Michigan thread, I do actually think UT made out pretty good with this deal.

I think Jones will win at UT, but even if he doesn't - this is a prime moment to leverage. Hart can't have another debacle.

Bingo. If rumors are right about UM having Jones anywhere near the top of their list, Hart couldn't risk having Butch leave. They had to give him both an extension, and a pretty significant deal.

Just announced by AD that Butch has agreed to new contract through 2020. Given raise to $3.6 million, which is basically the minimum in the SEC it seems
