Jeremy Pruitt just resigned with Georgia for a 1.3 million per year deal. I'm betting LSU will pay somewhere between 1.5 to 1.7 million per year at the rate its going. The longer we wait the higher that figure seems to go up.

we were gonna pay our guy at least $1.3 anyway so how does this affect anything?

only if our next DC demands to be the highest paid DC I don't think it will matter. LSU will pay what our DC deserves but I don't think it will be a crazy salary like Chavis got.

It depends on who we get. I dont think we will have to pay them that much the first year.

So again, a top DC gets 1.3 yet you say "going rate" is 1.5-1.7 ??

You realize this makes you look stupid right?

At least $1 million to start. If they end up having to pay more than $1.5 million, then the exercise would have been a zero sum gain pending the season-ending results of the new DC. Can't make decisions based on an unrealistic budget anymore if you want to compete. You gotta look at the market. The board just misread it. But that's also why they are running behind Alabama, because they are not forward looking with a realistic understanding of the trends.

You don't have to spend than you need to before it's time, but you do need to have a realistic idea of the cost.

Make decisions based on budget. We just had the highest paid staff in the country.

What I don't get is that we may end up spending more than it would have cost to keep Chavis. Did AD screw up and now the BOD says fix it and spend what is necessary? Seems like a couple of egos will end up costing LSU lots of money with uncertain results.

I think we pay $1.3 and have Chavis endorse that $400k check over to the new DC to make it $1.7. That would piss him off.

They wouldn't pay chavis more because they didn't think he was worth more given last year and several points in 2014. It shod have nothing to do with the new DC. Pay him what he's worth.
