Unless, of course, Miles decides one of the changes is himself.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the rumors from last year

There. Finally an answer.

fwiw, I think this is a write-up that Miles and Alleva wanted written.

Getting the word out that there will probably be an opening.

At least we know and it's been confirmed they have discussed it now.

I feel much better now.. Been trying to find out about crowtons contract. Surely, without having to pay a buyout, this guy is toast!

After an hour-long meeting with the sixth-year coach, Alleva said he and Miles did not discuss any staff changes.

Do you really expect him to say they discussed changes?

The fact this was written is enough proof that changes are being thought about.

The Tigers head into their bowl game last in the Southeastern Conference in passing offense (155.4 yards per game), last in touchdown passes (7) and 11th in total offense (332.6 yards per game) that sums it up

How do you KNOW this for sure? Maybe they did maybe they didn't. Nobody but the people in the meeting really know for SURE. Don't get me wrong I would love to see some changes made, but....until that happens we can only guess.

Because whoever published this article wasn't sitting in the meeting, but still knows the meeting took place. Who do you think released this information to the press? LSU wanted this out there, and if they didn't want it known, this would never have been published. I would assume they put this out there intentionally.

Doesn't mean that Crowton is not out. This statement, to me, says that Les has discretion as to who the hires will be. If they haven't discussed Crowton I'd be surprised. Perhaps they didn't in this meeting but that has had to be on the table in other discussions.

I doubt very seriously that Crowton gets a new contract at LSU...He has to be looking for a new job.

First of all, I'm a Miles fan. Next, I like this move by Alleva to allow Miles to control his staff completely. After 08, Miles recognized that "Malveto" wasn't cutting it as Co-DC's and let them go, despite their history at LSU. I fully expect Miles to recognize that Crowton's offense has been anemic, dysfunctional, and unprepared since 2007 to say the LEAST, and to send him on his way. That means we can go in one of two directions...

1. Miles hires a great OC, our offense looks functional and prepared although there will be some mistakes, a slow start, every time a new OC is brought onto a team. BUT after the first season, our offense will start to look dangerous again to complement our badass defense.

OR

2. Miles keeps Crowton, we have another year where, yeah, we might have 9+ wins, but they would be "in spite of ourselves" and we continue to have an anemic offense that depends on the defense to clean up their mistakes. Or we just have a 6 win season depending on a few bounces of the ball. The next season, Crowton AND Miles would be gone which would make all the anti-Miles fans happy.

If Crowton stays then that means Miles would have had to approve of a contract renewal. If he actually approves a renewal for Crowton, something is very, very wrong.

If he doesn't get rid of Crowton, I think LSU will trend backwards next year.

He is such a handcuff, that I think it would just be too much to ask to get to double digit wins.

.....and IMO, I don't think Miles can afford another season like that. In a sense, Crowton probably is the key to Miles' job.
