Lo and behold .... it's been done almost in secret.

Word is that the preview for the movie will be released tomorrow, 17 January 2024.

Yep, that's the word.

Produced under secrecy ... previews to hit tomorrow.

I'll believe it when I see it but it is being billed as a Western Nightmare, cowboy horror flick.

That's just not the way Hollywood usually works.

Hollywood agents want to announce their actors are in certain roles well ahead of time so that those actors get other offers.

You have 100s of people associated with a production. 1000s sometimes.

That would be incredibly difficult to pull off, but awesome if they did

It wasn't a trailer.

It ended up being an announcement.

New Regency is now in full production mode (no longer pre production) and John Hillcoat is directing.

They said 90% of the cast is already in place and they'll soon be releasing the full ensemble.

Maybe, perhaps, I dunno .... this might be some new promotion ploy? Given the book's content and followers .... who knows?

Yeah, that is what I was expecting.

It is almost impossible to film a movie of that magnitude in secret. Way too many moving parts, way too many agents that want to promote to get their people publicity for their next roles.

Caterers, locals doing extra work, behind the scenes stuff, score.

Just impossible

Listened to Blood Meridian on Audible recently.

At different times the Judge reminded me of:
- An intellectual sermonizing King Kong Bundy
- A bald and thoughtful Dusty Rhodes
- Vincent D'Onofrio playing Wilson Fisk - Best candidate for a movie?

Oh the mental adventures that come up when literature and pop culture meet.

Dreadfully long stretches of boring dullness interrupted by some brief bouts of raping and pillaging and killing.

Can't say it's my favorite McCarthy either, compared to the Border Trilogy & Suttree & The Road.

This thread encouraged me to start the audiobook and so far I’m loving it. I knew nothing about the book before this thread and didn’t read any spoilers so I don’t know what to expect.

With this thread in mind, and I’m only an hour in, but so far I haven’t encountered anything that seems unfilmable.

Just wait until the end. I mean it’s filmable, but well you’ll figure it out. I just finished this book because of this thread.

Well, at least it's finally showing in imdb.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0983189/?ref_=ext_shr

Maybe that's a good sign?

Yeah I started off interested and then got bored. I made it about 20% in and moved to something else.

I’m about a third of the way thru it. It’s a harsh, beautifully written slog.

I'm excited. Hard book to read. I'm interested if the movie will be as hard-core in the violence. :Spoilers: I can't wait to see the roaming Indians.
