I think they may be going this route, but Kirkman has said that he regrets removing Rick's hand in the comics because it limited the character too much. They may not think that's as big of a deal considering where we are with the story in the show, so they may think it is worth getting rid of it now.
But they already did the "having to chop off the hand" deal with Merle, so I don't know what would be gained by rehashing it with Rick.
But whatever they are doing, his hand being hurt will probably play a big role in an upcoming episode.

It's merely a flesh wound. Rick will rub some dirt on it and be fine.

Well he already used tissue from the RV on it so hey....how bad can it be?

He can always put on some black armor and challenge people to fights.

I think this episode ensures Glenn gets Lucille. This us exactly what they needed to do to make everyone care the appropriate amount when he gets Lucille.
Yep.
I think they will start lining the comics up with the show more in the next few years. We'll see. Rick will need a new squeeze though.

Glenn is not dead. Unless he's being used in a flashback every single episode or becomes a zombie pet, he's not off the show.
Source: simple glance at the number of episodes he's in on IMDB and Google search of how many episodes have aired.

The non-comic readers are going to flip the frick out when/if this happens. AMC is pretty lenient with TWD as far as what is considered too far. They're already going to have to clean up Negan's character for TV but they usually don't hold back when it comes to character deaths. Noah was literally ripped apart right in front of Glenn. Dale was in that field with his intestines hanging out. They showed the aftermath of Lizzie going ape shite on Mika. Glenn meeting Lucille could be a pretty big TV moment.

A lot of people will be pissed he survived the walkers, then will be shocked how he dies shortly after his return.

Following an extensive casting search, AMC's The Walking Dead has found its next major villain. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been tapped to take on the iconic role of Negan, the f-bomb-dropping dastardly character from Robert Kirkman's comic series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
quote:
The character, who sources say will first arrive in the season six finale directed by Greg Nicotero, is the violent leader of a group known as The Saviors who use force and intimidation to subjugate other communities — including Alexandria. Negan first appears in the landmark 100th issue when he crosses paths with Rick Grimes, who had been vocal about bringing down the man who takes half the community's supplies in exchange for "protection" from walkers. By comparison, Negan makes David Morrissey's The Governor look like a fluffy bunny.

Nice choice - I like it.
But to say the Governor in the comics wasn't a bad arse is just wrong. Negan has a belief system (however flawed), but the Governor was more dangerous in my humble opinion - a psychotic murderer and sadistic rapist. His story (and his character) was dramatically altered for TV.
But maybe we do finally get to see Lucille hitting a certain main character's noggin' in the final episode.

Excuse the novice here but please clarify who/what Lucile is?
