Never read a book with such great rising action only to come to such a 6/10 ending. I've read the stand also and felt the same way. Either way I'm hooked to Stephen King right now, what would you suggest next?

I feel this way everytime I read a King book. Good story, good setup and it's like he has no idea how to end these books. Although I did dig 11/22/63 and I think his son came up with the ending.

11/23/63 is my favorite king book
Doctor Sleep is also good

Kings son, Joe Hill, has an excellent ghost novel called Heart Shaped Box
I would actually read that before the other two books I listed.

Try The Talisman or It, both classics but very different. Talisman is more of an adventure, It is more horror, but both are meaty with a good coming of age vibe. Don't dive into The Gunslinger yet, get a good feeling for King first.

He does have trouble sticking the landing a lot of the time, but not always. Still great reads, though.

Either of these or The Stand. They're his 3 best novels IMO.

If it's an ending you're looking for, then read Needful Things next.

Off the top of my head I would suggest 'Salem's Lot, The Stand, The Talisman, It, The Dead Zone, 11/22/63, The Green Mile, Misery, and Mr. Mercedes (in no particular order).

Those listed, also Pet Sematary and his novellas under Richard Bachman: The Long Walk, Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption. If you like short stories or only have time for them: Night Shift and Skeleton Crew. The Jaunt, Battleground, The Mist and Jerusalem's Lot are some of my personal favorites but you should read them all.

I'm reading It currently, and I'm really enjoying it.
As stated previously, 11/22/63 is a great book. I couldn't put it down.
And I also enjoyed the Mr. Mercedes series (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch).

I wish SK would just let someone else finish all of his books. 98% of his books are great, he just can't close. That's why I like his short stories so much. He doesn't really need an ending.
