What’s your go to and why? I’ve been using a nook a lot lately just due to the fact so can download anything without going to the store

I've never had an e-reader. I prefer the feel of holding a real book. Not a knock on those who use nooks and whatever else. I stare at a computer screen for 9+ hours a day at work, so the last thing I want to do is stare at another screen for my leisure time.

Never used audible, though I think I'd enjoy it for long trips.

That is what I like about the Paper Whites from Kindle. When you have lighting in the room, it looks just like a book. When it's dark, there is a backlight. I do most of my reading before I go to sleep with my wife already asleep next to me. So, reading a real book with a lamp just wouldn't work. The other thing I like about an E-reader is that I don't have to have it with me all the time. If I am working on my computer and realize I have 10 minutes to spare before a meeting, I can pull up Amazon and read a bit. I also have the Kindle app on my phone if I'm ever out and have some time to read but didn't bring my Kindle with me.

Exact same for me. I cant relax if I'm looking at a screen before bed. The wife has a Kindle and really likes it. I may have read 2 books on one. It has been an issue with the amount of books we acquire in the past.

Paperback as i like taking books places with me and they’re easy to tuck in a pocket or stuff in a backpack without taking up much space

Switched to Kindle several years ago and read that way 99% of the time. It's so much more convenient especially for someone who reads alot. I used to have close to 100 hardcovers and was such a pain to move. Now I can hold my entire collection in one hand.

I generally read before going to bed with the lights off. A Kindle with warm backlight is hard to beat. Also, I read almost every night and splurged for a Kindle Oasis.

I used to be anti e-reader, but I bought the kindle paperwhite out of necessity. I do most of my reading in bed while my wife is asleep, and the lamp used to keep her awake. I love the kindle now. Still buy hardcover version of books/authors I love for my shelf, but the kindle is definitely my primary method for reading.

Hard back at home

Audible in the truck

Kindle or audible on the plane, depending on what mood I’m in

I'd love to try a Kindle device, but my entire library is in the Nook ecosystem I read on other tablets.

How hard is it to import my Nook library onto a PaperWhite?

You’d have to email them to your Kindle email address. Pain in the arse. I can’t seem to get into the Kindle through my computer, but the Nook is easy. I don’t like the LCD screen, even though I have the blue light filter on. Thinking about trying a nook with a backlight. I don’t like those 7” screens tho. I want bigger.

I've never owned a Nook but you should be able to use the Calibre software to download it from your Nook, covert it to Kindle format and upload it to a Kindle.

Hardback or maybe paperback. Especially if the books are keepers. Can’t be digitally altered or disappeared.

They can be confiscated and burned if discovered. Hopefully we’re a little ways out for that outrage.

I don't really have a preference between hardback and paperback, I'll buy either.

Audible every day to make the most of my commute.

Rarely use e-readers

Love the Kindle app on my phone, easy to take anywhere, night mode, works across devices, etc. It’s truly a 5 star app.

I absolutely love mine.

I still buy hardcopy versions because they can never be altered or taken from me, and will eventually be a great resource for my kids, but I love my kindle.

Paperback or hardback for me until I expire.

Something about physically turning a page and finding a place on a shelf for it when I’m done. And that you can share it, let someone borrow it, and when you’ve exited clown world, someone might be interested by all these books in the house and they might nod their head when they come across some sentence you underlined or come across a note you made

Last beach trip there was a young couple in the umbrella setup next to us reading books all day on their iPhones. I can’t even imagine trying that. They’ll probably go blind or suffer migraines by time they’re 30. Also though from people-watching on the beach, physical paper/hardback reading still reigns supreme across all current generations. It’s not even close

iPad. Use the Marvin reader app. Never have to worry about the quality of lighting. Allows me to adjust text size I use "night mode" with a dark background and off white letters so no eye strain, no "blue light" to affect sleep. I could never go back to paper books at this point.

I've mostly used the Kindle and Nook app on phone. Convenient and does not wake my wife at night. Lately I've also discovered that the app for my local library works very well.
