quote:

Not long thereafter, Queen Rhaella dismissed Joanna Lannister from her service. No reason for this was ever given, but Lady Joanna departed at once for Casterly Rock and seldom visited King's Landing thereafter.

I think Joanna told Rhaella that Aerys raped her, and she feels certain that the pregnancy was caused by him and not Tywin, and had to get out of King's Landing as soon as possible in order to make sure the shite didn't completely hit the fan.

Plus, as I read, Aerys was incredibly pissed when Jaime and Cersei were born, and lashed out at his wife and thought that all the miscarriages were because of her and her sleeping with others in the castle. If he knew the twins were his, I think he may have been nuts enough to assume that his seed was too strong for miscarriages.

I need a recessive/dominant Lannister and Targaryen trait chart before I can make a decision on this one.

I tend to think it's a bit of a red herring personally. And that Ceresi and her brood are nutjobs largely due to carrying an incestous line. I think Ceresi has an obsession with the Targaryens and the way they handled themselves because it validates her shite with Jaime/the kids and allows her to channel her batshit crazy self without reservation.

As do I.

I just think it's a lot more about the Lannisters wanting to be like the Targaryens given the success of their reign. Issue is that even when Mad King Aerys was mad, the public still loved his arse. The Lannisters don't have that kind of pull.

I really think it could develop Jaime's character if he found out though, since he would simply be horrified to be Aerys son. Cersei I don't think would care that much about being Aerys child, but would more care about being a bastard, but if Cersei ever found out about it, it would be seconds before Jaime murders her.

I think Jaime's character develops just fine with what he's been through at this point. Growing apart from Ceresi and realizing what she is, forming that bond with Brienne (which is the polar opposite of Ceresi), trying his best to maintain his vow to Catelyn Stark, and struggling with the Kingslayer label and the truth behind it. I don't think we need a twist for the sake of a twist for him to continue developing.

Great post, Belle. His character arch has been the best of the series. I fricking hated him for so long and now I love him. In a non-homo way of course.

I'm re-reading Feast right now and it really is incredible. Easily my most enjoyable arc.

I took the Facebook questionaire "Which game of thrones character are you?" And I came out as Jaime Lannister.

I got Tyrion:

And did anyone else find it interesting that it seems at the Defiance and Duskendale that Tywin seemed to have been actively plotting getting Aerys killed in order to seat Rhaegar on the throne and then getting him to marry Cersei? I'm really surprised Aerys didn't have Tywin executed over this quote, when some of the King's men protested storming the castle, for fear of Aerys death:

"Maybe they'll kill him, maybe they won't; but if they do kill him, we will have a much better king who is standing beside me."

My re-read of Feast was probably my favorite. It gets a lot of hate, but shite I think it is great.

It boggles my mind that Aerys wasn't killed sooner than he was.

As for my quiz results I got Robb . "You carry the weight of the world on your shoulders and yet you hardly complain. You're intelligent, resourceful, and an excellent strategist. You also try to be fair in whatever you do."

AFFC is amazing. I hate that the show is just going to gloss over it and aDwD

AFFC is so under appreciated it isn't even funny. I absolutely loved the overarching theme of war weary characters traversing through a war torn country.

It's much better on the reread. And I don't think the issue is so much that it's underappreciated as the other books in the series are just as good or better.

Has this been discussed?

Game of Thrones cast signed on for 7th Season

quote:

Earlier this year, HBO renewed Thrones for a fifth and sixth season. Thrones‘ producers have frequently said that they’re want to make seven seasons total. Since actor deals are typically multi-year agreements, and given that the negotiated option was only for a seventh season—instead of locking down a seventh and eighth—the seven-season plan now seems pretty well set.

So do you guys think they will end at 7 seasons? Or will they stretch it to 8?

I wanted it to be 8, simply to give GRRM some time to catch up, but I think we can all agree that by this point, there's no way in hell that happens.

The show will finish before the books do. Oh well.

I'm seriously contemplating not watching the show until I finish reading the series. I understand they can't keep these actors locked down for 10 years while GRRM crawls throught the last 2 books. As good as the show is, the books are just better. I was captivated by GRRM's world and I don't see myself watching someone else's take on how the series ends, regardless if they have a general outline. I realize that means not watching this season, but hopefully we get a release on Winds soon and I can just power watch the next season afterwards.

Oh and I'm anti twins are Targs. No thanks
