Well the reason I'm asking is, the Septon that married Tyrion and Tysha, I think he is the Septon at the Wall. Tywin had to have sent him there. And Tyrion said that he had no problem getting to Septon to marry them because he was drunk and when Jon was getting his assignment as a brother of the nights watch it said he had noticed the Septon and was sober for a change.

You know, I've never thought of it, but it makes perfect sense. Tywin would not have taken this lightly and probably saw it as the biggest slight on his house since Aerys refused Cersei or maybe even since Tywin's father's whore stole everything from him. He would have either gotten his head on a spike or given the Wall.

Granted, Tyrion should have seen him on his trip to the Wall, but I guess since Castle Black houses 5000 people (or is at least capable of such), he may have been able to avoid him.

Also why would Tyrion go to the sept? Doesn't practice any of the gods. And it's been what, around 20 years since then.

I think that JonCon will figure both things out on his own. Not sure how he figures out that Aegon is the Mummer's Dragon, but I think I know how he'll figure out Jon's heritage. Jon will send a plea from the Wall saying that it has fallen and the Westeros will soon be engulfed in darkness from the Others. JonCon will read it, and remember the prophesies of old, of the PtwP and Azor Ahai. He will remember Rhaegar taking his love Lyanna to the Tower of Joy and that Ned matched back North with this so-called bastard. He'll solve it, and maybe get the info to one person (which would be great if it were Jaime), but Varys has him killed before he can spread it any further. He'll drop his facade to JonCon and tell him exactly what he is planning,, and promises that he will now target both of Rhaegar's legacies (Jon and Dany). Will be either the final or second to last chapter.

Varys and Littlefinger's deaths will be more satisfying to me than Roose and Ramsay's. They're sinister, cruel, evil, sadistic, etc. but they're not the "big bads" of the series. Both of their end games will end in TWoW. Same with Cersei: Cersei is NOT the final villain of the series, and her story is essentially finished now, with the exception of her Trial against the Faith. Even if Cersei is found innocent, I think UnGregor will be unveiled, and seeing that he was created from sorcery, is going to make her trial null and void. Cersei will die within the first 3/4th's of TWoW. Book it.

Varys and Littlefinger are the two "big bads" in ASOIAF and the realm won't rest until they're dead. I really worry about Sansa staying with Littlefinger any longer; she's in even more of a precarious position in the Vale than she was in King's Landing. At least in KL she had the Hound and Tyrion who somewhat defended her and protected her. I'm sure she could possibly seek solace from Bronze Yohn Royce or Lady Waynwood.

But, if what Elio said was "true" about the controversial Sansa chapter bringing a different storyline to the forefront, I think Sansa will somehow leave the Vale perhaps. But there's too much uncertainty to know, and GRRM seems to love releasing boring Essos-centric sample chapters rather than the shite that's important that is going on in Westeros, particularly with the Stark kids and Jon.

Would you agree Daario dies in TWoW?

I think he will. I think him going to Westeros would be dumb; but I really hate Daario.

SO you're not replacing Robb with his character actor I take it then?

I really hate everything Essos related, however I enjoyed Tyrion's chapters in ADWD.

This combined reread is the way to go IMO, generally I read two chapters in one, two in the other, and so on.

I'm glad to hear Ser Too Famous to Write has been at work, I reeeeeaaallly hope WoW is out by next winter.

Lolno.

GRRM clearly doesn't know how to write some of these male characters. He expects his female fans to swoon over Daario and Loras, and I find neither to be attractive at all, both in the books and the show. Loras is kind of a jerk and Daario is a douche.

Does George really think this is attractive to straight women??

I haven't done the Boiled Leather AFFC+ADWD reread yet, but I'm sure it would help a lot with the pacing. Both books feel so slow compared to the first 3, and became chores for me to finish. I'm convinced that if it weren't for the non-Arya Essos chapters in ADWD that I would've finished it much faster. However, I hated Tyrion's ADWD chapters so much that I want his plot armor gone and put a crossbow through his eye.

I'm about 40% through this combo:

It makes the last two books 1000x better.

Different strokes.

I love them because they give a lot of background into Robert's Rebellion through Connington and give a great geographic description of Essos. The political system of Volantis is incredibly interesting to me.

I'm also wondering if that may be in the controversial TWoW Sansa chapter.

I think Martin's endgame is to put Sansa as Lord of the Eerie and I think it will involve marrying Littlefinger and killing both he and Robin off.

Yep, the descriptions of the surroundings were good, the dialogue was good (Tyrion is very clever) ..I think Tyrion's plot suffered because of the shitstorm that is Dany's story.

But I must agree with the others that the reading is 100000x better with the combined readings. And it doesn't hurt that you can just skip a few pages in the chapters that bore you.

I haven't done the reread yet for AFFC+ADWD, but I'm sure from what everyone has told me that it's wayyyy better than reading them both as written. Maybe I'll change my tune.

Definitely agree that Tyrion's chapters suffer because of Dany. I think both of their chapters would've suffered less if they would've met each other in ADWD rather than TWoW.

I'd say Barristan's chapters were great in ADWD

Another thing.

Anyone heard of the Lamb/Sheppard Theory?

Well I've noticed that one thing that seem to be consistently connected to Dragons is their love of lamb.

The Valyrians were sheppards before dragonlords.

The wild dragon that was tamed in The Princess and the Queen, was tamed using sheep.

In one of Barristan's chapters he mentioned that they had rounded up all the city's animals into various pits and the Dragons (Rhaegal and Viserion) seemed to prefer lambs above all other animals within Mereen.

It would seem that dragons in addition to their liking of crispy mutton might be best approached as a Sheppard does their flock. An interesting comparison as Dany deeply cares for and tries to protect her dragons and those she lifted from the bonds of slavery.

ETA: Jon is a Sheppard too. he care's for the free folk whereas Dany has her freedmen, and both to the chagrin to their councilors (barristan, Ser Jorah, Marsh, Yarwick)

Great analogy. I never knew they used lambs but I haven't read TPatQ yet.

I've found that Jon's story follows the Hero Monomyth but that his story parallels Jesus in a way in that he had the Wildlings come to follow him and view him as King and that the Pomegranate betrayed him (betrayal by a follower/brother, and will be reborn/resurrected). Plus it was thought that the original fruit mentioned in the Old Testament was not an Apple that Adam & Eve were tricked with/tempted by, but that it was a Pomegranate! Oh and the Targs are viewed as "gods among men" so in a way Rhaegar (a god) was his real father and he was fostered by Ned (Joseph).

I know some of that is a stretch but I think the connections make sense.

Just read on Kristian Nairn (Hodor)'s twitter that there's a Con this weekend in Galveston:

Roz, Renly, Loras, Hodor, Syrio, and Khal Drogo will be there.

Oh and does Nola ever have any Nerd Conventions? Because if any GoT actors attend I will be there.

Who would you dress up as? You should be Dany with the Qartheen gown.
