Stories do tend to get more exaggerated with the passing of time.

Oh gotcha. Well yeah there has to be two others according to the legend. I'm just saying that GRRM is fitting the puzzle pieces together by showing us the horn will actually work and be used by one of the three headed dragons. And if one horn works, then I don't know why the others wouldn't.

In Arianne's sample chapter there is mention of krakens

"And krakens off the Broken Arm, pulling under crippled galleys," said Valena. "The blood draws them to the surface, our maester claims. There are bodies in the water. A few have washed up on our shores.

i haven't read any of the pre-release stuff but that sounds good. maybe we don't actually see them. maybe they serve a purpose but we don't get a POV of them doing it. e.g. destroying Salador Saan's fleet

I think it would be cool if the horn of Joramun actually raised the Wall 700 more feet (doubling the size) instead of destroying it.

Would be a nice troll job.

Well, it's said Joramun woke giants, and was it ever said if giants helped build the Wall? Can't remember if that's from books or just fan speculation

OR an "Ice Dragon" pops out of the wall and eats all of the enemies of the Night's Watch.

So maybe I missed something, but the whole R+L=J....why is that truly important? I mean, maybe GRRM will get a laugh from trolling us, but what integral part of the storyline does that play (assuming Dany survives)? Jon would just go from "Jon Snow" to "Jon Sand." He's still a bastard born out of wedlock. Daenerys still is next in line to the throne, as well as Aegon (if he is actually Rhaegar's child). Jon doesn't really fit into the line anywhere.

Or am I missing something very obvious here? I just don't see any purpose for it other than a cool little twist that doesn't really mean much in the end. Hell, we already know that he doesn't have the blood of the dragon (being he burned his hand very bad). I guess the only integral part that R+L=J could play is if Jon ends up being Lightbringer.

There's speculation that R+L married each other. The Targs practiced polygamy, plus the fact that the Kingsguard were at the ToJ instead of with Viserys or Rhaegar.

Right but that would have happened after Elia, correct?

If this is true then it makes sense, but I don't remember reading anything about Polygamy and the Targs.

Ser Belmy was wounded and captured at the Trident. Also the Dorne prince KG as well

EDT: The commander and Dayne were at ToJ, it does not matter.

it would make Jon a Targaryen, possibly a husband and fellow dragon rider with Dany. possibly legitimize his birth (if R married L in secret).

Jon Snow to Jon Targaryen or Jon Waters (maybe). Sand is the name given to Dornish bastards.
