Hello book board

Quick run down: I work in a new blossoming industry in Denver and the position of operations manager is going to open up soon. I would like to prepare myself in order to put myself in a position to get the job. Any recs that you would think would be helpful for that position would be greatly appreciated!

Topics for recs I think would be helpful are anything on management, general business, and business organization and structure.

Please add any topics/recs that you think would be helpful in my pursuit.

Apologize in advance for being absolutely no help.

Fair enough haha. I'm not sure if that is appropriate here being a LA based site.

The road bodes well. Ty for asking!

- Smarter, Faster, Better - Charles Duhigg
- The Like Switch - Jack Schafer

And I'd always recommend the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and How to Win Friends and Influence People (the original, not the garbage "modern" edition). I think those two books are cornerstones for anyone that's truly seeking to improve his or her professional and personal life

I haven't heard of the first two listed, so thank you.

7 habits and how to win are great reads that should be a part of everyone's personal library regardless of what you do

I read anything about business people. How they run their companies is fascinating and could be beneficial.

How Google Works
The Everything Store
Shoe Dog
The Art of the Deal

There are so many more. You can find them at goodwill or a cheap used book store.

My advice: every book has some good takeaways, but I wouldn't put everything they say into practice. For instance, Amazon is really harsh on employees. I wouldn't put that into practice.

Difficult Conversations
Getting to Yes
Naked Economics
Naked Statistics
To Engineer is Human(great book on failure)
Thinking Fast and Slow (thinking more consciously)
Innovator's Dilemma (adapting to change)

There are endless recommendations. Need to know specific field and what your background is(to know what your lacking) to give better recs.

I'm working in a large scale commercial urban farming warehouse. Ops manager will coordinate and communicate with the 3 different divisions. To make it simple, the three divisions can be considered beggining, middle, end. We are looking to define roles and set structures and systems in place through the divisions. We have outgrown everyone doing anything and everything it takes to operate the business. We are now specialized by division, but no structure was set in transition to specialization.
