There must be thousands of issues and hundreds of storylines within Marvel alone.
First, what’s the best way to access comic books, specifically Marvel?
Second, where is a good place to start and how to progress?

ReadComicOnline
Virtually every issue is available to read online for free.
Good luck heading down the rabbit hole.

You could use the link in the first response - its fine enough to get you going.
However, I much preferred using the library - they have tons of trades and in a lot of cases the Trades can be collected stories across several different titles which may be hard to figure out on the website.
Find story lines that intrigued you in the films and pick up the trades those were based upon. Find characters you liked and google the best stories for those characters and pick up those trades.
You could also walk into many a comic shop, browse a bit and talk to the employee there. Generally the employees at those shops love comics and know a decent amount about them.

Both above post are good suggestions. One thing to warn you about Marvel comics is they tend to do big crossover events that “changes everything” very often, so make sure to use wiki if you don’t want to follow everything leading up to the event, because it can be a lot.
