Raiders star WR Henry Ruggs III, the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, was involved in a serious car accident in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning...
quote:

Cops tell us Ruggs was behind the wheel, driving his Chevrolet Corvette, when he crashed into a Toyota Rav4 around 3:39 AM. The Toyota caught on fire ... and first responders located a deceased person in the SUV.

Ruggs was transported to a local hospital for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries.

Cops tell us the NFL star showed "signs of impairment" at the scene ... and the 22-year-old will be charged with DUI resulting in death.

If he was still at Alabama, he'd be playing Saturday.

Ruggs is 2 years into a 4-year, $16.7 million contract. He got a $9.7 million signing bonus. Why the hell would someone with this kind of money ever drive when they go out? Hire a driver for the night, or freaking Uber. Or better yet, don't be out at 3 am. Nothing good happens then.

And the majority of that money will go to the victims family, lawyers fees, and fines when insurance denies the claim.

Don't even have to hire a driver. Their NFL Player ID which they should always carry in their wallet has a number for a "no cost" pick up service provided by the NFL. They also provide a second driver to drive their expensive vehicles home as well so they don't have to be left behind.

Damn, this sucks for everyone involved. I drove drunk as a kid, even blacked out and was super lucky to always wake up the next afternoon with my person and vehicle in tact. This is a nightmare.

Donte Stallpepper came back from the same type of incident. So Ruggs will be fine.

Who is Donte Stallpepper?

He was drunk and hit someone illegally crossing the street. Ruggs was drunk and hit another car. This one is similar but I don’t think it is the same. Times are different too as the NFL cares more about optics and how they look tough on crime instead of doing the right thing.
