He was in the booth during a game a couple years ago for a short segment. Maybe one of Eli’s games. Anyways, they asked him to “play analyst” for a couple plays. The guy was incredible at describing what was going on. He would absolutely kill it if he decided to take the job. However, as others have stated he might not want to take the job in order to focus on being the best dad he can be for his kids. No matter the amount of money I don’t think anybody can fault him for that.

I’ve attended several engagements where he was a keynote speaker. He is very funny. Two of those were town hall type forums. He was great. I liked those better because he didn’t know what would be asked. He was very genuine and still extremely funny. Every single time I’ve heard him speak he’s mentioned the offers he’s had to go into broadcasting or coaching. His intention in retirement has been to focus on his family and his twins first. He picks and chooses when and how he works to stay relevant, but is passionate about being a present father. I wonder if this would intrigue him enough to make the change.

Peyton would do fine at broadcasting. Whether he wanted to do the rest of the ESPN baggage that usually comes with that seat is another question.

Archie always sounded like he had a mouthful of marbles on the radio. It’d be hard to pass up easy money tho.

but Peyton already has more money that he (or his grandchildren) will ever need. When you have that much, you can choose to live life the way you want. If he wants to be a more present and active father, his wealth allows him to do that.

Peyton was born for broadcasting. He is a natural conversationalist with a quick wit, good comedic timing, and a vast knowledge of the game. The only thing that he has going against him is his voice is not the smoothest. But if I were ESPN, I would pay whatever amount of money I needed to to make sure my audience never had to hear Booger's voice again.

This comedic timing you speak of are professionally written commercials or no?

Well there may be a reason they pay actors to do commercials not bums off the street.

Has Peyton done any announcing before? Seems like a huge gamble, if not. He has insight, no doubt, but he doesn’t annunciate very well and timing is a big part of broadcasting. Romo proved himself to earn his contract. Archie was a good broadcaster for the Saints because he had a lot of insights and stories about the organization that interested the local crowd. If he fails, I’m sure Peyton fanboys will blame his supporting cast - again.
