Marcus Thornton scored 29 points to lead LSU to a big road win over Tennessee, 79-73. LSU improved to 16-4 overall (4-1 in the SEC).

The Tigers went into halftime with a 43-38 lead, and led by as many as 14 points in the second half. Tennessee mounted a furious comeback and was able to take a two-point lead with 4:44 left in the game. LSU pulled away in the final minutes to seal the win.

The Tigers shot well from the free throw line, going 16-20, including two clutch free throws from Chris Johnson in the final minute.

LSU returns to action on Saturday to face the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Maravich Assembly Center. Tip-off is at 4pm CT. The game has been designated as the celebration of 100 years of LSU Basketball and over 125 former players are expected to be in attendance at the contest. LSU’s All-Century Team will be announced at halftime.

In LSU Football news, LSU is still waiting for an NCAA ruling on defensive tackle Charles Alexander's petition for a sixth year of eligibility. Alexander, who has been plagued with injuries the last two seasons, is expected to be a starter if he is granted an additional year of eligibility.

In LSU Recruiting news, everything is very quiet with six days to go until National Signing Day. Looks like we will have to wait until February 4th to get the final decision on several highly coveted recruits. yeah they would love to spoil it and they can. it really seems like coach johnson keeps the tigers focused on the next game so i really like our chances. geaux tigers!

Great win for the Tigers! Now, they need to put it behind them, and start focusing on Arkansas. The Hogs are very capable of pulling off the upset and I'm sure they would love to spoil the big celebration planned for Saturday.
