Saints GM Mickey Loomis Addresses Expectations For Jameis Winston

New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis joined Adam Schein on Mad Dog Radio this week and outlined what the Saints are expecting from QB Jameis Winston heading into this season...

“He’s going to be in a competition with Taysom,” Loomis said. “So, you know, we’re really excited and high on Taysom just as we are on Jameis, and it’s going to be interesting to see how that, you know, shakes out.

“Listen, Jameis has been fantastic, and you have these impressions of guys afar, that when you get them in your building, you really learn a lot about them. He did just fantastic — fantastic as a teammate, fantastic representative of the organization. He’s a smart, smart football player. He’s hardworking. Just everything you would want. So I’m excited to see how this shakes out.”

When asked aboot Jameis, he first mentions Taysom, then tells how excited he is aboot Taysom, then goes on to Jameis.

I think that is the first time I have ever seen the term smart used in reference to Jameis.

It’s been pretty heavily documented that x and o, film session, recalling plays, etc that he is the best in that aspect since Peyton Manning. He probably will be a good coach one day. His career had been up and down. Maybe his poor vision was to blame or he simply chokes, but in terms of filmroom football iq, Jameis is reportedly in the 99 percentile.

As much as we all grew to dislike Drew at the end, I’m not sure the Saints will ever be the same again. That offense operated like such a well oiled machine with him at quarterback. Can’t ever imagine seeing that again. The golden years of Saints football.
