I was in Bloomington the Sunday he was fired. I think there was more damage done to the campus that night than there was the night they upset Duke to go to the Elite 8 with his players (and the majority of his staff). Hated the guy when I was up north but grew to respect everything he did.

His firing was a bullshite set up by an Indianapolis sportswriter. The kid Knight was attempting to teach respect to was the guy's stepson. I know of a few graduates who paid the fee for a replacement diploma because they didn't want anything with Myles Brand's name on it. The AD was run off a few years later and his replacement tanked the Financials into the deep red despite IU being a very valuable brand.

The 1987 loss still haunts me. Missed an 8 foot touch shot as time expired. Then, in 92 when it was close late and after the game someone asked BK if he was nervous and he said something to the effect of…. ‘I was until I looked down the court and saw who was coaching the Tigers’. Dale despised BK and I think it was mutual. Good memories.

Spoke with Robert Callaway at length who played for Bobby Knight in 1987. He remembered all of the LSU Tigers on that team and mentioned them each by name. Robert is a great guy who works hard and is normal as the day is long. He said Bob Knight was was very difficult and a big time horses butt almost all of the time

Coach Knight built solid teams because he didn't coddle and coach softies, he was tough and mean at times and that was the difference in great an average to below avg teams.
