Charles Barkley Donates $1,000 To Every Employee At High School Alma Mater
© Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports
Charles Barkley is giving back to his high school alma mater. He's not only donating school supplies and resources, but he's handing out $1000 to every employee there...
quote:

The 58-year-old Alabama native gave back in a huge way for his alma mater Leeds City Schools during the COVID-19 pandemic ... donating laptops and WiFi hotspots for students learning from home.

On top of that, the school says Barkley wrote a check for $1,000 to each employee in the school district to help out during the tough times.

FYI -- that's reportedly 226 employees!!

The school thanked Barkley for his continuous support over the years on Tuesday ... saying, "We are humbled and wish to express our sincere gratitude to Charles Barkley for providing a $1,000 gift to each and every Leeds City Schools employee for going the extra mile this school year."

Nice gesture and good for Charles. However, I sometimes wonder (just in general) if when celebrities give out public donations like this if it's really out of kindness or they're basically just paying for an image boost? Why not hire an attorney and do it anonymously?

Who cares why he’s doing it? He’s still giving probably 250K to people and kids who need and deserve it.

If you'd read the whole story you'd know he has secretly given over $3M to the school district over the years. Also, the school district put this out on their Facebook page. Not Barkley! Do some research before opening your mouth and trying to tear people down.

Do you know who doesn't give two shakes about Sir Charles and Shaq's little contest to see who can give out the most help, gifts, and assistance???? The folks who are being helped and receiving the gifts. After the crappy year teachers have had this year, they appreciate the gesture.
