LSU announced the hiring of Matt Canada as the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Tigers on Wednesday.

Canada is expected to receive a three-year contract worth more than $1 million a year. He will join LSU after Pitt's bowl game on Dec 28. Interim OC Steve Ensminger will call LSU's game vs. Louisville in the Citrus Bowl.

Head coach Ed Orgeron will formally introduce Canada during a 1:30pm CT press conference on Wednesday. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

“We have a real opportunity under Coach Orgeron to propel LSU football to another level,” Canada said. “The chance to put together a high-powered offense with the athletic ability available at LSU and the leadership of Coach ‘O’ is incredibly exciting. I’ve long-respected Coach Orgeron’s ability to recruit, lead and motivate. What he did as head coach at LSU under difficult circumstances was really impressive. I’m thrilled to be a part of the vision for the program.”

“Coach O and Joe have been very clear about what they expect,” said Canada. “With the talent already here and what we will recruit, we can put together one of the best offenses in the country. We’re going to develop quarterbacks, score points and bring some excitement to the offense here at LSU. And of course, we’re going to do it the right way - the LSU way.”

He looks intense and sharp. I like it already. Hopefully he will be on the sidelines showing it.

Right.....We can run it up the middle three downs and then punt on 95% of our possessions......Brilliant.

Things have turned out differently than expected by a long shot. Yet, things honestly feel good. We shall see. But we've got some real potential in our staff. Our D shouldn't go anywhere with Aranda, O can recruit and motivate, and Canada seems to fit the bill for what we've already been recruiting offensively, though I hear he adjusts to whatever talent is on the team. Oh, and special teams can only get better. O, boy, let's geaux!

He looks the part. I think we'll be much improved, but you never know. Brennan should stay now. However, Etling will probably start as he will be a senior with SEC experience. Brennan could redshirt. Lindsey Scott still in the mix. I think Canada will make these guys better. Harris should probably transfer to a smaller school and try a fresh start. Lots of possibilities.

Yeah he's the worst ever. 87% red zone td scoring, drops 42 on Penn State in win, drops 43 on Clemson in win, he's the worst ever. Get some facts or stick to duck hunting.

This was a Miles Brennan hire. Come on back to the fold Miles. This is where you belong. With Canada calling the plays and Brennan executing, our passing game becomes a legitimate threat. Great hire!

I don't think Canada will still be at LSU by the time Brennan is ready to play. I see him jumping to a HC position in two years. Maybe even after next year

So will his press conference be on the SEC Network or will they be re-running some Bama game from 1973?
