Players from LSU's secondary met with the media after practice on Wednesday and were asked about the injury of their fellow teammate Jalen Mills.

Mills suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday's morning practice and could miss up to 4-6 weeks, according to reports.

LSU defensive backs Jamal Adams and Rickey Jefferson spoke to reporters and said that the group is taking the "next man up" approach to replace Mills. Adams also said there is "no lost energy" and that Jefferson has stepped up right away.

Jefferson, who is most likely next in-line to replace Mills at safety, has impressed his teammates so far during fall camp. Per The Advocate:
quote:

Linebacker Lamar Louis said Jefferson stuck out during the Tigers’ first camp scrimmage Saturday.

“Rickey comes down and lays the hat,” Louis said. “He’s going to be big for us at that safety position.”
Here is some more of what the LSU defensive backs had to say during Wednesday's media session:

Rickey Jefferson was already going to play a lot for us. Think Ron brooks in 2011. Now he'll have a bigger role and I don't think anyone is that worried about that prospect
