Les Miles was on the SEC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday and was asked about quarterback Danny Etling and how the Purdue transfer ended up at LSU.

Miles gave most of the credit offensive coordinator Cam Cameron who knew Danny and his family for his hometown of Terre Haute, Indiana.

Success at QB starts with the QB and his overall play on the field. Hopefully we found one who is taking charge of the opportunity and the huge amount of talent around him. Why this is not a line of QB's wanting to play at LSU is an example of how swayed QB's are by recruiting.

Matt Mauck, Danny Etling, ... Can we just start looking at high school QB prospects from Indiana moving forward?

Right, we didn't start him from the beginning because has those sane attributes and has been in the system. Turns out when the lights come on Harris tenses up and Etling doesn't. Hence, the change.

... but we still didn't start him from the beginning.

LSUrme, I believe that after Ethling's first two games of live action, it's apparent that he should have started from the beginning, provided he was healthy enough. But if Miles had not played Harris for the first game and one quarter, people would have been grilling Miles and Cameron for not not playing the QB who started every game a year ago.
