LSU senior defensive lineman Christian LaCouture was one of 42 players named to the 2017 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, which was announced on Friday.

Named after Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Ronnie Lott, The Lott IMPACT Trophy is awarded to college football’s Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. Founded in 2004 by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, The Lott Trophy is the first and only college football award to equally recognize athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player. The Lott Trophy is given to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

LaCouture suffered an ACL injury during fall camp last August and missed the entire 2016 season. By not redshirting during his freshman season, the senior from Lincoln, NE was granted a fifth year of eligibility.

He is expected to be ready to go for the start of fall camp. Coach Orgeron announced this spring that LaCouture will wear No. 18 for the Tigers this upcoming season.

Former LSU defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey won the Lott Impact Trophy in 2007.
