LSU senior power forward Brian Bridgewater spoke to reporters on Monday afternoon and said that he would like to transition to Football after he finishes up the Basketball season.

Bridgewater, who hopes to graduate in August, will have one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-5, 282-pounder played tight and wide receiver in high school. Per NOLA.com:

The 6-foot-5, 282-pound Bridgewater had spoken to LSU staffers about making the switch this fall but said he has not talked to Tigers coach Ed Orgeron just yet.

"That's a possibility, if things go according to how they're supposed to," Bridgewater said. "Hopefully that's an option. If not I'll have to see what door opens for me."

Bridgewater is hoping to graduate in August and then move on to his next sport. He'll have one year of eligibility remaining; he sat out his true freshman year (2013-14) before playing basketball the last three seasons.

Why does everyone assume he'd be a TE? If he added 20 pounds and maintained his footwork, that's left tackle material.

Imagine if he can catch the ball, what a weapon at 6'5" 280 or 260lbs! With Jeter gone, give him a shot. That's like getting an unexpected recruit at a position of need! Good luck Brian!

 The idea that a basketball player wouldn't be conditioned enough for football is laughable. He would just need to get used to the heat. It is sad most guys don't realize they can step off the court and become elite almost immediately on the football field.

It's happening!

I'm on board with it. Basketball players typically are better conditioned that football players anyway. He already moves very well for his size. If he shows hands, he's an instant upgrade over what we've had the last few years.

Wow. From 10 fans in the stands to 100,000 plus. He would be mesmerized. Just joking, I hope nothing but the best for the young man.

He's got coordination and hands. Throw the man in the weight room and some heavy conditioning to lose 20 of that 282 lbs. Who knows, he may have a future in football after all

He'll contribute at TE right away. I saw him play in HS a few times. He should have stuck with football from the beginning.

ok, so he was pretty good?

He should be given the opportunity to try out and be a walk on but being away from a sport for that long is kind of a reach if he plans to get significant playing time. Unless he's legit and can contribute.

Eh, there are numerous NFL players who played college bball and not football.

I agree with this, only as long as he brings PF Jackie Moon with him. EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY!

How about offensive tackle

Amen. Not sure why this is being downvoted. He'd need to put on 15-20 pounds, but could make for a great OT with his size, athleticism and footwork.

Don't know well he can transition into football that quickly, but if he can perform at a fairly high level, it would make up for missing out on Buggs. They're about the same size.

Seems kind of a stretch to think he would ever see the field after not playing for 3 years...never know though,he wouldn't be a guy under scholarship I don't think. Unless he gets to be under the basketball scholarship, i dont know how that works...to the guy saying he could and should drop some weight, that ain't happening...basketball makes you as light as you can get, so much cardio ,it's just a sport that has you as light as you will ever be
