Recruiting News: Big Visits For LSU This Weekend

Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports
As we get closer to National Signing Day on Feb. 5, these next two weekends will be huge for LSU Recruiting. Below is a list of prospects that will be visiting LSU this weekend, as well as a list of recruits that have already committed and will be on campus as well.

Prospects visiting this weekend:

Travonte Valentine (Pictured) - 6'3" 335 lbs DT from Hialeah, FL (Champagnat Catholic). Valentine de-committed from Miami after the U.S. Army game and is LSU's biggest target this weekend.

Emanuel Porter - 6'5" 190 lbs WR from Dallas, TX (Lincoln)
Porter recently committed to TCU, but many people think he could end up at LSU since he has family in Baton Rouge.

Derrick Kelly Jr. - 6'5" 270 lbs OT from Havana, FL (East Gadsden)
Kelly Jr. is being recruited by FSU and is the offensive tackle that LSU would love to have. Expect newly hired OL coach Jeff Grimes to help out with the recruiting efforts this weekend.

Russell Gage - 6'2" 180 lbs DB from from Baton Rouge, LA (Redemptorist)
LSU moved Gage's official visit up a weekend and will most likely extend an offer soon. Gage has offers from Tulane, La.Tech, and Southern Miss.

Commitments visiting this weekend:
Davon Godchaux - 6'4" 265 lbs DE from Plaquemine, LA (Plaquemine)
John Battle - 6'2"185 lbs CB from Hallandale, FL (Hallandale)
Deondre Clark - 6'3" 231 lbs DE from Oklahoma City, OK (Douglass)
D.J. Chark - 6'1" 175 lbs WR from Alexandria, LA (Alexandria)
Tony Upchurch - 6'1" 219 lbs WR from Pearland, TX (Dawson High)
Devin Voorhies - 6'2" 185 lbs ATH from Woodville, MS (Country)
