Yahoo Sports is reporting that LSU assistant coach Eric Musselman is is engaged in advanced to talks to become head coach of the University of Nevada-Reno.

Musselman, 50, interviewed for the Nevada-Reno job on Monday, and sources said the school is preparing for a possible announcement before the weekend.

Musselman was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors (2002-04) and the Sacramento Kings (2006-07) and complied a 108-138 record. He has since had successful head coaching stops in the NBA Development League before assistant coaching jobs at Arizona State and LSU.
If Musselman gets the job, he will replace former UNR basketball coach David Carter who was fired this month after posting losing records four of the last five seasons.

UNR finished 9-22 overall this past season.
