Former NFL head coach Ken Whisenhunt is expected to join Nick Saban's off-field staff at Alabama, according to FootballScoop.

Whisenhunt spent the past two seasons as an offensive analyst at Penn State.

Whisenhunt, 60, spent 2007-12 as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and 2014-15 in the same role with the Tennessee Titans. He won two division titles in his eight seasons as a head coach. Prior to that, he won a Super Bowl as the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator.

His son in law is Zach Mettenberger who was on the Alabama staff last year. I don't think there is much on the internet about Zach's kids but I'd guess Ken had an opportunity to have a less demanding job and be able to spend time with his grandkids. Not a choice everyone makes but if I had already made my money, I'd probably do the same.
