Tre Morgan was from Brother Martin, Carl, come on. You can't ruin that rant with an error like that.
Well, frick me. I got carried away and knew the more I kept listing, the more I was likely to frick up and let one slip in there.

but your going to take a step back defensively.
It might not be as big of a step back as you think.

this is why I said it about JJ not feeling the kid was good enough.
Jay didn’t feel he was good enough—ESPECIALLY coming off an injury—to warrant would have taken to get him. Not that he wasn’t good enough to play at LSU. Tennessee felt he was. But they also didn’t sign the #1 pitcher and the #1 hitter/overall player, either. Our situations and needs are different.

I personally dont agree with a backyard kid getting pouched by a rival sec school
What the frick does this even mean? You don’t agree with it? Who the frick are you? You don’t agree with it. Like these people have no agency and aren’t allowed to make decisions based on what is in their best interests. Tell you what—disagree with something in one hand and piss in the other and see which one fills up 1st. Don’t agree with it.
And tards like you do the same in football, too. Think it’s our birthright to get every good player from Louisiana, yet somehow don’t seem to complain when we “pouch” guys from out of state. Was Dylan Crews from Gonzales? Alex Bregman grow up in the South LA bayous? Tommy White from Hammond? Steven Milam from Monroe? Serna? Arambide? Braun? Curiel? Eyanson? Dickinson? Skenes? Jump? Holman? Hurd? Floyd? Herring? Bear Jones? Stanfield? Braswell? All these dudes grew up in the Boot?

Lsu needs lefties even if its getting solid weekday guys. LSU needs weekday wins next season.
Your boy was a top 10 portal guy. You want us to throw that kind of cash at a weekday guy to beat McNeese? The 2026 team was not very good. That’s why we lost so many midweek games. It was an outlier than wound up not even mattering. We weren’t getting in with our SEC schedule. Jay is hunting guys early in the portal that will help us win SEC games and beyond. Not that Trosclair couldn’t have helped with that. Jay preferred to allocate more of his available money to different guys. We needed a stud pitcher. Got the best one in the portal with 2 years left. Needed a big bat, a LHH, and an OF. Got all 3 in 1 with the best overall prospect in the portal. Needed a SS to replace Milam. Got a highly ranked portal guy that probably would have been ranked higher were it not for the situation that led to him missing the last 15 games. And he still hit 13 homers not playing in those games. And is a top 40ish prospect in the ‘27 draft. Really good athlete, with good speed. Probably will make a few more errors than Milam, but has better range and a much better arm. His average might not translate, but he’s got other tools that will. I don’t think we could have afforded all 4 guys and had much left over for the freshman class or some other not as heralded guys with talent that he’ll wind up sprinkling the back end of the roster with. Not the roster, but guys he expects to help produce. And if we could only get 3 of them, we got the best 3. Great talents and filled 3 huge holes.

He wanted to come to LSU and went to Tenner because of Austin Knight. He is from Miss and coached a couple kids from Thibodeaux area when he coached in North La. and knows his dad.
So he had relationships with guys at Tennessee. That’s how a lot of these things happen.
quote:
The interest wasnt shown and Tenner offered him a nice package
So it worked out for everybody, no? He got to go to a really good SEC program where he has a good relationship with the coach and who was desperate enough to give him a lot more than LSU. I don’t understand this “reasoning” that he somehow got hosed.
quote:
Thats why I said JJ felt he wasnt good enough
Again, not good enough to warrant the money he wanted and that Tennessee was prepared to give. NOT that Jay felt he wasn’t good enough to pitch at LSU and contribute.
quote:
I dont mean it to sound negative.
 I wouldn’t have believed you even if you stopped right there. But then 9 words later, you said this:
quote:
Jay needs to get these fricking hillbillies out of south La
Which is dumb enough on its own, but you really showed your arse when you finished it up with this:
quote:
at all costs
And that is why your posts are naive at best, dumb as all frick at worst. But it’s likely a combo of both.
quote:
I know the kid's dad
Well, there you have it. You’re biased. Nothing wrong with that if you would just acknowledge it. But how close are you to his dad? Sounds like he’s shite talking Jay and LSU to anybody who will listen. And his younger son is all over social media doing the same? Perhaps that is an entitled family that Jay would prefer to not have to deal with. I’m sure he’s had some sighs of relief lately, knowing he made the right decision. Your friend’s son got a shite ton of money—and likely a guarantee that we couldn’t give—to go to one of the best programs in the country over the past 5 years, where he will get to live in Knoxville playing for a guy he already has a good relationship with. Excuse me if I don’t get out the violins.

How bout this, and we can move on: “Yes, it’s easier to hit home runs at Foley than the Box or other places. How much? Too many variables to easily determine. But knowing that, and seeing some of the recent success of their position players, probably makes it a bit easier for Georgia to recruit and land the big boppers they’ve had lately. And Athens is a pretty cool college town.
Now, can we all get along?

FWIW, this is what fricks pitchers in Colorado as much as the altitude does. They overcompensated by for the altitude by making the park cavernous and so there are a lot of hits that fall in that wouldn't in other places.
No doubt. That’s why Vinni fricking Castella hit .331, .309, .304, .304, and .319 his 1st 5 years there. It wasn’t just bombs, he had a lot of doubles and singles that wouldn’t have fallen in a regular park. Dude never walked.
Why Larry Walker chased .400 a year or 2. Etc…

Impressive work. And you called my bluff/challenge, realized you were wrong and came back and not only admitted it, but showed your work. Genuinely impressed. Not a lot of posters would do that. We need more like you.

I think he’s probably got a lot left to give and learn. He’s only got I think 160 plate appearances at LSU. In the scheme of things that’s really not a lot. In my opinion he’s got the juice, he really only needs to improve approach and discipline.
I hope you’re right. He’s gonna improve almost guaranteed. Will it be enough, though? Because we NEED him to make a big jump. It will lengthen the lineup. (Something I’m pretty obsessed with.)

I jumped in late. What exactly are we even arguing? Not what we’re pretending to argue, but what we’re really arguing. If we even are really arguing.

You son of a bitch, you are right. I was wrong. I thought the much longer left field and longer alleys would have made up the difference. Alas I should have actually calculated it instead of estimating and planting my foot in my mouth.
Yeah, you left out the angles and length from dimension to dimension. Which I didn’t know, that’s why I was genuinely curious to see. But the Box is more like old school MLB parks in the way it’s symmetrically shaped. Not any hard angles.
quote:
It still isn’t easy to hit out of unless you are an incredible left handed pull hitter or right handed oppo hammer.
It’s not easy to consistently hit it out for sure. Those Georgia dudes can rake, no doubt. But I don’t think they’d be chasing down 188 if they played at the Box. Of course, there would be no 188 without the drop 5s and a little juice. So whatever. I’m not gonna whine about the record going down if it does. Not gonna blame it on Foley.

No Serna or Bide?
He’s only got 2 leagues listed. The list is incomplete.
Guidry playing in the Code is interesting. My initial reaction was that he’s going to get lit up. But maybe his stuff plays better against wooden bats. Not sure why it would any ore than anyone else’s. But maybe. :dunno:

I genuinely think Lil big Pearson takes a leap next year. I think he’s the dude that goes next level.
I think he will definitely take a leap next year after seeing SEC pitching for a full year. And he better. If he’s not giving us 15(ish) home runs, then he doesn’t need to be playing. His only tool is power. If we don’t get that out of him more consistently, then what does he really provide?
And I went to West Monroe and played with the Pearson’s dad for a year. So I’m pulling for him. The only thing that gives me pause is that he’ll be an older 3rd year guy. Is there anything left to get out of him? I’m hoping it was just needing to see good pitching consistently after basically being forced into a RH PH role his freshman season.
Also, Jay is going to continue adding talent to the roster. And there’s the—slim—potential Milam falls in the draft and comes back. There may be some musical chairs played in the IF, and Big John might left without a position when the music stops.
Anybody know what he’s doing this summer. He needs to keep seeing good pitching. But he’s also got to slim down some and become a much better 3B. Work a ton on his lateral movement. Ability to come up and make plays on slow rollers, etc…

Foley LF: 350 ft (106.7 m)
LC: 370 ft (112.8 m)

RF: 314 ft (95.7 m)
Skip Bertman Field
Foul lines: 330 ft
Power alleys: 365 ft
Center: 405 ft
But please, I can’t wait for you to prove that the Foley has more surface area than the Box using only these numbers. And then case you cheat using A.I., I’m gonna have to ask you to show your work.
I have no idea what field has more surface area. It may be Foley. But I know that the numbers you posted aren’t enough to solve for it. But by all means, prove me wrong.
quote:
They actually have more playing field area than The Box.
Prove it. And if you think you have enough information with just the dimensions you posted, then you’ve never seen different baseball fields. Or you don’t know how to math.
quote:
This is exactly what I was looking for you to say so you couldn’t twist your way back out of it.
Fair enough. But you made the claim that Foley has more playing area than the Box. The onus is on you to prove that.
quote:
You don’t know shite about baseball.
He may not. But I’m your huckleberry. Ask me your question. But not in the passive aggressive bitch way you’ve been asking it.
Because you’re not really asking a question. You’re trying to make a statement, but are too scared to fricking straight up say it. Ask it. Say it. I’ll respond.
I just want to piggy back on what a few other people have mentioned. 50 homers out of Arambide and Serna is…ambitious. Not saying it’s impossible, but predicting it is kind of silly.
Also, I don’t know that Braun is a 12-15 homer guy. He’s pretty filled out already, not a lot of room to add weight to his stature. And his approach, the way he hits the ball to all fields, hits a ton of line drives, I don’t think is conducive to hitting a ton of home runs. What did he hit this year? 3? 4? To get to 12-15 is a huge jump that I don’t think he can make without talking away a lot of what makes him special. He’d have to get a lot more pull happy.
And I don’t think we want that. He reminds me Tre Morgan a bit in that way. Spraying the ball to all fields. Tre was definitely big and strong enough his Jr. year to hit 15, but he would have had to change his entire swing and approach and that’s not what we needed out of him. I don’t think we need it out of Braun. I think 7-10 is more reasonable.
