What kimd of injurys?

dislocated shoulder making a diving play in the field that would end up requiring season ending surgery in 2025, was granted a medical redhsirt. This year he missed a bunch of games early with an oblique injury. He missed most of the pre-conference season
quote:

Can you explain where there's a different set of rules for 18 year olds to legally follow than 27 year olds?

Exactly. Sorsby was gambling as recently as at least January when he arrived at Texas tech and he's 22 years old. He knew what he was doing and knew it was a cardinal sin when he was doing it, otherwise he wouldn't have gone to the depths of sending his friends money and setting up an account in his mother's name to place bets
quote:

lol he's going to play this season and get a chance in the NFL you know, the league that has multiple ads for gambling during games

Since 2022, 11 NFL players have served 1 year suspensions for gambling on NFL games (not their own team's games), several even being suspended for gambling not on NFL games but doing so from their cell phones at their team's facility. Acting like the NFL doesn't care about gambling because they have gambling ads is a bad take.

Does Kurland play 2B and if so where does that leave Ruckert?

idk, but if he doesn't get drafted and he plays anything like he did in 2023 or 2024, he'll be a great pickup. Dude mashed his freshman year, had a slightly down sophomore season, then battled injuries the past 2 years, missing almost the entire 2025 season
quote:

Surprised this guy (Yorke) and others aren't in the portal yet. Is Johnson negotiating with the bum players instead of telling them to get in the MF'in Portal?

all the transfer busts are out of eligibility (Simpson, Dardar, Yorke) except for Carraway who is in the portal
quote:

Probably need 1/3rd of your roster gone, at least.

Guys who are gone who are out of eligbility:

5th year seniors
Reaves
Dardar
Dathe
Fontenot

4 Year players
Stanfield
Yorke
Simpson
Cowan
Benge

There are 6 players in the portal:
Rizy
Carraway
Harden
Noot
Primeaux
Clauss

That's 15 guys from a 35 man roster, or greater than 1/3 of the roster

LSU has signed the top two players in the portal and another in the top 25-30. They also just signed Cade Kurland from Florida but he's a draft risk
quote:

If it was a no name player, he would have lost the injunction (or never even sued) and this would never have even been an issue.

Bingo. There was an OL at I think Iowa or somewhere like that who said he bet $10 on a womens bball game. Don’t even think it was part of an investigation or leaked. He just came forward with it on his own. He was banned from football permanently
quote:

Until details come out about what actually happened it could have been something you guys do at your club every day.

Phil has been a member at this club for decades and is very likely their wealthiest member. Something that goes on at CCs every day isn't something they are going to expel Phil for doing. That's just basic common sense. From the reports, he made actual physical contact with her. I have not once played in a group where anyone actually touched a staff member outside of something like a handshake. Mildly flirtatious remarks made to a cart girl, sure, but that's not what the allegations were/are as it pertains to Phil. For a person of his stature to be expelled from the club, it would need to be a pretty serious incident. Either that or he has a track record of doing inappropriate stuff and this was the last straw
Just saying, "family health matter" is very broad and non-descriptive. It could very well fall into the box of "sex addiction" rehab like Tiger Woods underwent back in 09. It is certainly curious that this incident happened in the spring and Phil has been completely off the grid ever since. Maybe it's just a coincidence that this happened at the same time as an unrelated family health matter, or maybe this is actually the family health matter :dunno:

I saw some article where Phil apparently has a defamation attorney on standby to sue anyone who publishes any speculative articles.
quote:

Ian Poulter was right after all. We really didn’t know what’s been going on with Phil.

seriously. I assumed his personal matter was due to a health issue with his wife or father. Big yikes on the reality of the situation. There were rumors back in the day of him being a "swinger" so this type of allegation certainly tracks.
As it relates to this specific question, Sorbsy wasn't in the State of Texas when all that gambling happened. Texas can't prosecute someone who gambled in one state where it's legal because it's illegal in the state where he now lives

That said, he shouldn't be playing college football ever again regardless
quote:

I read the article you linked to and the math still isn't mathing for me. What kind of "overhaul" costs $1.45B? Why not just build a new stadium at that point?

my thoughts exactly. 1.45 billion would build a really nice brand new stadium

This past season for the Irish, he hit .362 with 10 home runs, 18 doubles and 51 RBI while striking out only 37 times in 218 at bats.

*in 252 plate appearances, so his K rate was only 14.7

His OBP% was also .447 on the season

In ACC play, he hit .339, w 7 2Bs, 5 HRs, 21 RBIs, and an OBP% of .444. He had 21 Ks in 141 plate appearances (14.9%), so his production didn't dip at all in conference play
Over time yes. Started with cleaning up the trash yard, buikt new flower beds, replaced fence in backyard, painted all the indoor walls, replaced downstairs flooring.

Currently doing a complete renovation of the kitchen and half bath.

Next project will be renovation of master bath

Koepka has made $1.5M in 11 tournaments so far

poor guy
quote:

He is 19 right now. So I assume the clock starts now.

correct. he's been out on bond, so he won't get any credit for time served because he hasn't served any. Still, to be eligible for parole at 36 is a joke for what he did. he ended a kid's life before it started and at 36 he still has a chance to live a decently full life of his own
quote:

Other states have some wildly short murder penalties. In New York for example it’s possible to only get 15 for 2nd degree and 20 for 1st degree. In Louisiana it’s life in prison and death, respectively.

sentencing guidelines can be hard to follow. I know that in my state, Tennessee, murder requires you to serve 100% of your sentence, whatever that sentence may be, and it isn't generally a life sentence unless it's premeditated or you're a multiple time convicted felon. I think in this instance, were this in Tennessee, he'd have to serve day for day for whatever sentence was imposed but it wouldn't have been premeditated first degree murder either so he wouldn't have gotten life. Just speculating here, but I do agree it's interesting how sentencing works state to state
quote:

So just throw him out like garbage

Yes, just like he did with the life of the teenage kid he murdered for no reason

No chance for redemption.

That’s between him and God. He made his bed on this earth. Now he can lie in it
quote:

ETA: I say that might get me scolded by the judge... reason for the scolding is bringing up the defendant invoking his right to not be forced to take the stand

You wouldn’t just get scolded. The judge would declare a mistrial. Big no-no
quote:

Also Sorsby is a POS. If he had any integrity he would accept his punishment and move on.

this may very well be true (probably is), but he has 5 million reasons not to accept his punishment and move on

Oh but it is though

if you ignore all the objective data on the outcomes of their lawsuits

The NCAA has prevailed 25 times at the preliminary injunction phase.

They have not prevailed 13 times

they really need to reseed once the 8 teams are set.

back before super regionals, teams weren't seeded until they got to Omaha. They picked regional sites, seeded teams within those regionals, but the Omaha brackets weren't set until after the regionals.
