The First Opium War, not sure if the British had any ground offensive. Thinking their ships bombarded the forts/cities into submission.

Ask them how much they would reduce your rate and what would be your monthly payments would be for a 15 year note.
I leave one month from today. Wife's family wedding in Portland, then we are going to Acadia national park then up to Halifax.

I was too young to remember anything other than that quarter, actually disappointed they didn't bring it back this year.

Immigrants out of the United Kingdom?
They need to all be kicked out of Europe

What I found interesting, didn't realize until I read an article this morning that a lot of the immigrants they are attacking are other Europeans.
They are burning houses where immigrants are from the Ukraine, Poland, and Romania. I assumed it was violence just against immigrants from the Middle East.

It is becoming conventional wisdom that the social security system, as currently constructed, will not be fully viable after the so-called baby boom generation starts to retire in about fifteen years. The most recent report by the social security trustees projected that the trust funds of the system will grow over approximately the next fifteen years. However, beginning in the year 2012, the annual expected costs of social security are projected to exceed annual earmarked tax receipts, and the consequent deficits are projected to deplete the trust funds by the year 2029.

Greenspan said it was going to happen, noted the boomers had a great deal and now it was time to slightly increase revenue, that was in 1996

A primary cause of social security's funding imbalance stems from the fact that, until very recently, the payments into the social security trust accounts by the average employee, plus employer contributions and interest earned, were inadequate, at retirement, to fund the total of retirement benefits. This has started to change. Under the most recent revisions to the law, and presumably conservative economic and demographic assumptions, today's younger workers will be paying social security taxes over their working years that appear sufficient to fund their benefits during retirement. However, the huge unfunded liability for current retirees, as well as for much of the work force closer to retirement, leaves the system, as a whole, badly underfunded.
Yes, but Katrina did a lot of the demo for us.

Because of these cultural disparities, restaurant associations in Pennsylvania and Missouri are recommending that their members in host cities Philadelphia and Kansas City add service charges during all or part of the World Cup, which begins Thursday and runs through July 19. The guidance is not just a hedge against international travelers who might stiff a server but a precaution to avoid awkward and time-consuming discussions about American tipping customs, tableside chats that could slow down service during a potentially frantic period.

Mandatory 20% tip on all food and drink is not because certain groups don't tip, chats about tipping slow down service.

Then what happened to Nebraska?

It goes from 100% of benefits owed one quarter to 78% of benefits owed the next? Decreasing at massively decreasing rate all of sudden?

No, Social Security has been paying out more than what it takes in since 2021. The deficit has increase each of those years. In order to maintain a 100% payout they have been using reserves.

In 2032 the reserves will be exhausted and amount coming in will only total 78% of what is need to be paid out.

No….because it is not going to be cut by 22% in 2032. We have heard all our lives that the SS program was bankrupt and there would be no program in the future…..yet here we are.

Yes we have been told our entire lives that social security would run out in the early 30s. Now here we are 6 years way.

They will raise FICA taxes and the retirement age, I don’t expect cuts.
