My wide and her cousin are going to Nashville. They want to stay in a nice area within walking distance to bus, restaurants, etc.
What area should they be looking at?

Downtown Nashville probably but some hotels are next to very loud bars so choose carefully unless that's where they want to be.

Hilton Nashville downtown. Next to Bridgestone Arena and walking distance to Broadway. My go-to spot when attending concerts there.

Downtown Nashville is pretty compact and relatively easy to walk. This confused me:

Sorry I meant bars not a bus.

Just stayed at The Westin downtown and it fits the bill.

Wife and I stayed at The Westin downtown in December for 4 nights and it was very nice and in a great location.

Lower Broadway downtown is the Bourbon Street equivalent. Country Music Hall of Fame, other museums, and restaurants are nearby. The bars on LB are packed and loud.
Printers Alley is a street away from Broadway. There are several bars/clubs with live music along it, and they are much less crowded and noisy. Most bars in Nashville are no cover, so it's easy to bar hop.
Stay in any downtown hotel walking distance from that area, and they'll be good. We stayed at Homewood Suites by Hilton Nashville-Downtown. It's a little bit of a walk to the hot area of Broadway, but it was quieter and had a great free breakfast.
The Grand Ole Opry and Opry Mills Mall (can walk from one to the other) are 15-20 minute drive away from downtown. You can Uber there for $15-20, but when the Opry is over they'll hit you for about $45 because everyone wants a ride at the same time. (Cash can help avoid waiting for a ride.) The GOO shows are well worth seeing. Look at their artist schedule and buy tiks ahead of time.
They should also see who may be playing at The Ryman during their stay. It is downtown and a great place for a show. We saw Vince Gill, and it was one of the best concerts I've attended.

What's the price point approximately? They're all expensive. Like really expensive. So that could be a decision factor.

Very wise to make sure to start this on the Travel Board and not the OT
