I want to take my mother on a vacation with us. Party would include her, myself, wife, and two teenage sons.

She doesn't walk very well; would use a wheelchair where possible.

Doesn't dig hot weather

Smokes like a freight train.

Doesn't really have any interest in anything.

I'm not sure how long we have left with her, so I'd like to take her somewhere for a week or so, probably late fall or early spring.

Prefer direct flight out of MSY or Houston

What y'all got?

Not trying to be ridiculously insensitive, but you might want to get crackin' on this vacation instead of waiting until late fall, early spring.

late fall

Fly into Logan Airport, tour Boston for a few days and then go see the foliage in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Use the money from the vacation she has no interest in taking to build a mother in law suite, then you can be with her daily.

New England when the leaves change colors? Old people love that shite. Can ride around in the car, visit a maple syrup farm, cool weather, and so on.

I'm pretty sure they even have a tourism industry that targets elderly people.

There is nothing terminal with her health issues. It's just been a slow decline over the last few years. I have no reason to think that she's on borrowed time or anything...just came to a realization that she won't be here much longer in the grand scheme of things

Well that changes things. Hit the strip club with her. She can pay for your good time with dollar bills from her bingo victory.

Maybe a Graceland tour? Before my mom's health got really bad due to dementia, my wife and I took her to Graceland and she loved it.

How wheelchair accessible is Yellowstone or Yosemite?

I feel like an old person would love touring that stuff.

If that's in the budget, imo that's the answer. If not a normal cruise? Get her a balcony and she can just sit out there the whole trip and you guys get your freedom. She's never far away but everyone can still enjoy their time.

Outside of a cruise someone in a wheelchair is going to be a huge burden on your trip.

Branson, MO. She's perfect for that place.
