It appears I will be in St. Lucia next June. We will be staying at the Sandals Halcyon (not really my thing, but this is part of a group trip). This will be my first experience with Sandals, I have been to Couples Swept Away a few times. Any reviews on this specific property? Beyond sandals, what are some of the local things that I must do/see/experience? Any restaurants I must visit? As always, I tried the search function but it didn't really help much.

We hiked gros piton on our honeymoon. Beautiful view at the top. You can see about 85% of the island from there.

We stayed at the rendezvous resort near where you are going to be. If you can swing it, I'd recommend getting the helicopter from the airport to the Castries. It will save you about 90 minutes of very windy mountain roads. My wife about threw up from getting carsick. I'd have done the chopper had I known.

Castries was a cute little town. We left the resort on bikes and rode through town alone. Never felt unsafe. Looks like the resort we stayed at neighbors your sandals resort so I assume you will have that opportunity too.

Beautiful part of the beach too. Enjoy!

Wife and I stayed there a few years ago. For us ( age mid 50's) it was more laid back than La Toc or Grande St Lucian. Food and drinks were good at all the resorts. You definitely want to spend a day with Joe Knows Charters.

Honeymooned at the Sandals Regency 27+ years ago. Snorkeled and went marlin fishing. We had a little hillside bungalow with a private pool. It was a lot of fun.

Wife and I went for our Honeymoon in 2021, but stayed at the Cap Maison. I cannot stress enough that the ride from the airport (SE corner of the island) to the resorts (NW corner of the island) is absolutely brutal.

Some friends had gone prior and took the “resort bus” and they both got sick, so they suggested a private car. We got a very nice man in an older Escalade, which helped, but 2 hours into the “1 hour 15 minute ride” I’d have paid for the helicopter to pick us up at that point.

There are multiple options, including the helicopter, but another couple we met said they paid for the catamaran cruise. They were able to skip the lines at Customs, then go straight to the boat. It sailed to the main marina in Castries, then they took a taxi the last 10 minutes. Said it was a very nice cruise.

These suggestions about skipping the standard airport transfer are great. Thanks everyone.

For those of y’all that went fishing, catch anything? Did you feel like the charter tried hard to catch fish, or was it more of a pleasure cruise where they had a couple of lines in the water?

We stayed at the Sandals La Toc and loved it. We ended up doing a tour where you can drive a dune buggy all across the island. I just wanted to drive on the other side of the road and this was the perfect opportunity. We had a lot of fun and when we got back To the rental place I could smell the clutches burning on all the buggy’s.

Wife and I stayed at the Sandlas Halcyon 2 years ago on our honey moon. Definitely take the chopper from the airport if you can swing it.

We did not leave the resort often. The locals will badger you all trying to sell you the same shite.

We did end up going on a day long excursion. It was with Julian’s Boat Tours. Saw a lot of the island, went snorkeling, ate some local cuisine on a mountain and topped it all of with a booze cruise. 10/10 would recommend Julian’s Boat Tours for an excursion.

The resort itself was very low key and we liked it that way.

You can also take water taxi from Airport to the resort. Do not rent a vehicle. We did and it was not a good idea...waste of money. Roads are treacherous

Stayed at the resort and enjoyed it.

Take a bus over to Sandals Grande, look on Google maps and you can see Pigeon Island National Park, you can hike up the mountain from the Beach at the Grande, awesome views, a couple of old forts at the top, and beautiful plants. Can see Martinique in the distance. At the bottom there is a neat food shack / bar to eat at. One of my favorite things we did on the trip.

We did a Boat tour that took us along the coast. Snorkeling at Sugar Beach (apparently Matt Damon rented the entire resort for his wedding) and then the mud bath in Sulphur Springs. Very cool drive thru volcano there. Got tanked on Jungle Juice on the boat ride back.

My Fiancé and I are thinking about visiting Sandals St. Lucia for our Honeymoon next June (19-24). Are there any preferences to which resort is best?

Halcyon is low key but the beach is nonexistent. The pictures are a lie.

Thanks for the rec. I'm in between St. Lucia and Barbados at the moment. Still comparing both.
