The insta-idiots have made horseshoe bend almost unbearable fyi. When I was there 2 years ago there was at least 3 if not 5-6 trying to take idiotic shots, selfies, etc. that were either hogging the best spots for unreal amount of times or were damn near trying to die.
No doubt, it can get crazy. Was there at sunset on June 1 last year and there were busloads of tourists (sunset is obviously a popular time for pics there). The was an Asian family at one of the popular lookouts and the father spent 10 mins positioning his teen daughter for pics. The girl was sitting right on the edge and was scared and crying and he kept barking at her and repositioning until someone told him to get the hell out of there. It is definitely worth the trek and I got this perfect pic of my girlfriend as the sun was disappearing below the horizon. If in the area you have to go. Will be there again the same time this year and kayaking the Colorado below the next day.

Circling back for an Update:
Great Trip! We were able to do everything we planned and even pivoted a few times.
Day 1 - Drive to St. George, UT
*** Various stops along the way in true "Road Trip" Fashion..... In and Out Burger Lunch; Peggy Sues 50s Diner; Eddie World; World Tallest Thermometer; Alien Beef Jerkey; road the strip in Vegas.
Day 2 - Hike Zion National Park ; late afternoon drive to Glen Canyon/Lake Powell; Horsehoe Bend ; then had time to catch Grand Canyon sunset so did that as well instead of going down and through Flagstaff or Williams to get to our camp (Glamping) setup.
Day 3 - Grand Canyon sunrise/hike; breakfast @ El Tovar.
***Spent the afternoon getting down towards NE LA to be able to wake up and do Disneyland in the morning.
Day 4 - Full Day at Disneyland.
Day 5 - Santa Monica Beach (Breakfast on the beach); UCLA Campus; Beverly Hills Sign; Suprised the kids with Lakers game at 12:30PM..... flew back at 5:45PM from LAX.
Jam packed fun trip!
Definitely would always go the true Road Trip style and be able to do as much as possible always. So many great memories! Families really don't do that as much anymore.
