We spent 3 nights in Ljubliana and 2 nights in Bled. 2 nights is probably plenty in Ljubliana and 1 night in Bled though. We didn't do any of the other spots in Slovenia but I would imagine they are all a 1 night stay. Plitvice is awesome but it can be really crowded which ruins the beauty of the park since most of the path is a narrow boardwalk and footpath. We entered the park on the late end....6pm maybe and most of the crowds were moving out to the tour buses. We ended up having the park to ourselves. This is a lesson for most popular towns and sites, the tour buses leave around 4 or 5pm so the hoards can have dinner by 6. Dubrovnik was a shite show during the day but by 8pm, we could walk around the old town easily.

Thanks. Hopefully Mid October will be less crowded.

Yea, that will be much better. My wife is a school teacher so we are always traveling in high season. The weather can get cold and rainy in October though.

Not in the trip report I made, but I also did Croatia on this trip.

I really enjoyed Zagreb. Cool city - walkable, with good sites, interesting museums and good restaurants/bars.

I also used it as a jumping off point for Plitvice, which is amazing. I went in high season and the crowds weren't bad at all. A few tips - do your homework before you go. The park can be a little confusing. I got turned around twice. At one point you take a boat ride but when you get to the other side, make sure you hop on a second boat because if you get out and follow the path you loop back to the entrance. Second tip - people say to go early as soon as it opens or really late to avoid crowds, but the midday sun hitting the water is what gives it those awesome colors you see in photos.

Enjoyed the write up, i have to get back there now, maybe an istria/Slovenia trip! I enjoyed Moribor and the Lipica Stud Farm (lipizzaner horses) too. We drove thru (Vienna to Zagreb)and returned by train, got to see some beautiful country both ways.
