Considering taking a trip this summer and the idea of renting a travel trailer and having it delivered to our destination came up.

Would be two adults, 11 year old and small dog.

Having never slept in a travel trailer or RV, can anyone share their experiences? Showers, bathrooms, cooking, etc.

Will probably only stay for for 2 nights and then pack up to move to a new location/trailer.

Pretty sure a lot of rv rentals are minimum 3 nights, maybe I'm wrong.

I’ve been looking on RVshare app and there are many rentals with a 2 night minimum.

How are you getting to the destination? Flying + RV rental would probably cost more than just driving and getting a cabin/hotel.

Are you travelling out West and moving around a good bit? What's your need for getting an RV?

The whole fun of having an RV or towing a trailer is getting to drive in it to your destination and seeing the country in a huge RV.

You have to get one with slides though. Those make all the difference in the world.

Cruiseamerica.com is a great option. We have rented from them over 20 times in the last 14 years. Full baths(shower)
cooktop etc. 19', 25' or 30'. 9 to 10.5 mpg
Bigger is better but don't go to older cities like Savanah
due to lack of parking. Many Casino's will accommodate RV's
but no hookups. Also you can stay overnight at Love's, Pilot and Flying J truck stops for free.

Many rv parks have showers and bathrooms.

But a cheap foam pad from Walmart for like $30 and the mattress in the rv will be more than fine.

We did a cruise america for 17 days out west from Florida and it was a fantastic trip. Highly recommend trying out. Many rv parks are really nice. It’s very easy especially the cruise America RV’s as they are set up for dumbasses to rent. Our family of 5 stayed in one and yes it’s quick showers get wet, then water off, use wash cloth to clean, turn shower on and rinse off. But we all used it like that and had no problems.

It’s not luxury but sometimes it’s nice to get the hell away from luxury and be in the outdoors and appreciate creature comforts.

The quintessential US Navy shower. I'm glad you've met a woman that agrees to this. OP, beware, fantasy is not reality.

Lol, I mean that when you are not hooked up in a lush RV park. Like I said, the rv parks can be very nice. What’s the point of staying in a RV if you aren’t in the wilderness to some degree? I mean you may as well crash in a hotel or cabin?

Probably 2/3s of women disagree, and 50% of the rest are lying. Not to mention, barely washed female smells as about as bad as unwashed male in an enclosed space.

RV with the Navy shower while you're putting out deer feed with other dudes? Fine. You'll be dusty again in 60 seconds, but you're not trying to share a cramped bed with them, either.

One of the best trips we ever took was renting an RV from Cruise America in Chicago and traveling to Santa Monica California on Route 66 (as much as possible). Interesting to see how the movement of roads killed towns all across the country. Boondocked the entire way and ate in small towns at surviving restaurants. Enjoyed it so much that we may do it again soon. btw we didn't stay at any RV parks. Dumped and reloaded water at truckstops. If RV parks are going to charge $75/night, you may as well get a cheap hotel room for the night. National Parks are the way to go. Wow, the stars are great

Again, then stay in a cabin? Again, you can hook up to an RV park and have basically unlimited hot water? Or use a RV park shower?

I'm not really sure your point here other than being a fun sponge for anything not top of the line luxury?

My family of 5 did the RV cruise america's just fine. Its more than doable. Its certainly more comfortable than camping and plenty of people do that?

We did this last year through RVshare, 2 adults and 2 teens. The RV we rented was under 30', I was worried about my wife being able to drive it but I ended up doing it all. We took turns showering at rv parks that either didn't have showers or really dirty ones that nobody wanted to use. My wife and I slept in the bed above the front of the rv, and the kids took turns with the main bed in back and the couch bed. My wife did an excellent job of prepping before the trip, she cooked meat for meals like spaghetti or burgers and froze it. Overall, it went pretty well but we did run out of some food and just bought some at a Walmart. I did figure out pretty quickly that I had to hook up the hose for the Grey water because everyone showering filled the tank faster than I expected.
