Portugal and Madeira Islands

Flying into Portugal/Lisbon from Greece on the last leg of our four week trip. I have two weeks to spend in Portugal but want to visit Madeira. How should I split up the days?

I would offer a word of warning. Southern Portugal and Madiera are notorious for UK tourists who arrive in droves for cheap holidays. Put a little effort into determining the current hotspots and stay far away.
