I recently flew roundtrip on Southwest and for both flights, we were delayed because people on my flight kept standing up while we were on the ground. I had never even heard this was possible. Is this something new?

First flight, people were fighting over a seat and going to the bathroom on the runway. The captain said we couldn’t move until everyone was seated. This pushed things back significantly and caused other delays that i won’t get into.

On the way back, people started standing up after we had landed and were taxiing to the airport. The plane literally stopped moving on the tarmac while the captain announced we could not move because of it. Am I just flying with shitty travelers or is this some new rule? Or something Southwest has started to do?

This is a true statement regardless of the airline. So many people lose all common sense as soon as they step out of the vehicle at the airport.

Could be a new, or enforcing an old, rule for liability purposes. I have never seen it before take-off other than the occasional "can't wait to use the bathroom" type. I have been on flights where as soon as the plane touched down people were trying to get their overhead luggage out to run to the front and all it did was piss of the passengers & flight attendants. But, never a comment from the pilots

This has always been a rule. Sit your arse down and wait for the chime that indicates you may get up and move about the cabin.

After landing it has always been a rule that you do the same whether it's attaching to a jetway or deplaning down stairs.

IOW, many people that fly are entitled idiots who don't think the rules apply to them.

it was incredibly frustrating sitting there watching people stand up not 2 minutes after the announcement was made to sit down. flight attendants didn’t do shite either. we just had to accept it

Let me ask you this ....

If these sh!tty passengers had committed a major crime, would any of the local newspapers or TV stations give an accurate description of them?

I was thinking this as well. I don't fly SW often, but was wondering when it got that bad...

I've been on lots of flights where the flight attendants had to remind people to stay seated after landing while we taxied to the gate.

Because we have a lot of stupid people now flying for some reason. I have avoided flying this year because of terrible people and bad service. I drive whenever I can.

And the majority immediately stand in the aisle the second the plane reaches the jetway. Why? You can’t go anywhere. And all you do is get in the way when it’s the others’ turn to stand and get their carry ons from the overhead. Just stay seated and wait your turn. You aren’t saving a bit of time.

I flew American this week and it was BY FAR the worst deplaning experiences I have ever had.

Like, why is it so F'n hard to, when it's your turn, stand up, get you bag out of the overhead, and get off the damn plane?

It should not be 20 min to get 150 people off of a plane.

But the moment the plane gets to the gate... everyone jumps up and tries to rush the front... clogging the aisles, taking their sweet time to get the bags out of the overhead, etc.
