I’ll be in SF for work next month and plan to tack on a 2 day trip to Napa. I’ve been 3 times previously but looking for the expertise of this board to help us select one final winery to visit.

We already have the full 2 days planned other than the last spot on the second day, which would be a visit around 2:30-3:30pm.

My wife (no pics) is a sucker for champagne so we already have visits booked to Domaine Carneros on day 1 and Schramsberg on day 2. Also going for “experiences” this time so we’ve booked Del Dotto cave tour, Castello di Amoraso, and Far Niente.

Any suggestions for one more must-visit spot?

I see that you already have Del Dotto on your list. I've been to Napa several times and their cave tour was the best we've been on by far. Ending the tour with the wild boar meat and their Beast wine was a nice touch.

Try to carve out some time for a lunch at Bouchon in Yountville.

I thought Carneros was okay... had a better time at Mumm for champagne

Unless you're really determined to go to Castello di Amorosa, I'd skip it and do either Cakebread or Caymus. The Castello di Amorosa wines just aren't the best. The castle was fun, but it's not quite the experience it seemed it would be. I'm sure it's different now due to Covid, but there were a lot of folks there. We took some cool photos, but I'd have rather chosen a place with delicious wines.

Oh, and we loved Del Dotto. We tasted a lot. Some guy in our group wanted to buy a case of some really expensive one and we all got to taste that one at the end. We also did the cave tour at Schramsberg and really loved it. They have old, hand dug caves. The tasting was done in the cave and the atmosphere was awesome. Bring a jacket. It's cool in the caves.

Mumm and Domaine Chandon for bubbles. Stag's Leap cave tour and Robert Mondavi Twilight tour were two of our favorites when we went.

Our driver took us to Taylor Family Winery, a family owned winery on the side of a mountain. We drank with the matriarch (including her homemade Limoncello). It was awesome.

If you are looking for something smaller, check it out.

She likes champagne.

Take her to the top of Spring Mountain and go to Smith-Madrone. They make a very nice Riesling and Chardonnay. Something other than the usual Napa cab sav.

Just got back a couple weeks ago. We did Stag's Leap as a couple and Madonna, Costentino and Kieu Hoang as part of a tour.

How long ago? I recently went online to order some sparkling from Kieu Hoang and it didn’t look like they were in business any longer.

2 weeks ago, exactly

It is in the process of beings sold. That may be why you couldn't place an order.

Schramsberg is definitely our favorite.

Outside of that one I’d visit Chateau Montelena……watch the movie Bottle Shock before you go.

I just drank some of the Pride allocation that just came in. Cool place.

Darioush is solid

Ehlers is a good small venue

Went over the weekend. My favorite was Jarvis. Although I don't have much experience, a lot have friends have said it's their favorite. The wines are pricey if you are looking to buy. It's a great cave tour and tasting.
