Any suggestions on the best way and place to experience Lake Como in a few hours? I'll have a car. TIA

I spent a few days in Varenna and had a good air bnb with excellent views of the water. You could take the ferry to Menaggio, Bellagio and Granted from there.

Anything in particular you want to see our do?

If you truly only have one morning or afternoon, you are just going to have to find one or maybe two towns along your way would be best to say some time. I've never been to como but I've been to other lakes and it's mountainous plus the lakes, generally the roads follow medieval routes so they are rarely straight shots, in other words traveling by car can take some time.

There's a bunch of boat ferries so it would be fun to go to one town with another town across the lake but close, ferry over and ferry back. You may be able to find a ferry large enough for a car but that may be pricey I'm not sure. Most of the towns are not large though, you can see them all in a couple hours easy. Beautiful countryside in Italy like that though is really nice to be able to relax and take your time.

Fwiw my parents went to a conference there and they said the ferries were easy to use but car travel was a slight hastle because of the roads.

Bellagio most picturesque city on lake como imo. If have time take a boat tour and go around the island that served as backdrops in casino royale and star wars. Cant recall name of island but if you saw the movies it is recognizable. View of italian alps impressive
