Knoxville hotel /tailgating recommendations?

I've stayed and am staying at the Knoxville Marriott. I think they still have rooms. As far as tailgating goes, we generally just walk around until we find some people we know.

You definitely do not want to drive...typically, the hotel provides shuttles to campus. That will be the way you want to go if they still offer them. If not...UBER. I'm telling you, parking can be a real pain, and you won't get much closer than you already are.
