Hotel discount codes that you know of

Are there any known discount codes to get cheaper rates at popular hotels that yall know of?
I'll start:
If you book at the Royal Sonesta or Sonesta anywhere, you can get 25% the Best Available Rate by using the promo code FAF ("Friends and Family"). It works most of the time except some holidays and some busy weekends I believe. They don't ask any questions and you don't have to have proof that you know an employee. I used to work front desk at one so I can confirm this.

its called calling the hotel directly and talking nice to the lady who answers.
you can spend all day on the web trying to wrestle a discount or just call the hotel directly and 9x out of 10 they'll give you a better rate than you can find online.

At Hilton property hotels (Hilton, Waldorf, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Conrad, Homewood Suites, Home 2 Suites, etc.), you can click on state government rate and won't get asked to show ID to obtain state government rate.
I used to do this all the time as a Diamond member. It would allow me to stay at nicer, full-service hotel for about the price of a Hampton Inn).

Same for AAA discount. I have a AAA card, but I've never been asked a single time to show it at any hotel over the years.

I worked at a hotel for years and can assure you this does not work as well as you think it does. It works if you get in touch with in-house reservations and get to know one of those ladies, but most of the time the people answering at the hotel are working the front desk and don't care or don't have the authority to lower any rate. Most of the time you get sent to a corporate reservation department not on site at the hotel. These rates are way simpler to use and actually give you the discounts that the managers are allowed to give. I know that for a fact for the Royal Sonesta FAF rate.

Good code! Checks out. Do you have to prove that you are an employee though?
I've done this several times in Nola and no. But we should take it off of here. Its going to get ruined.

If you bring a really attractive hooker to the Ozone Motel in Mandeville, the owner will give you a 5% discount on the hourly room rate.

I just retracted it from my quote. Good idea. Lots of people in the industry on here.

man I used to have some great contacts like that, I've stayed in some pretty swanky digs that way, I still get some great deals but some of the suites and amenities I've enjoyed just by having a relationship with people on the property, with the authority to make that happen was awesome, seems harder to do these days

I agree. The thing is in the hotel industry, turnover rate is high. The people you know that will hook you up often switch hotels within a few years so you have to keep up with them.

I google for discount codes & occasionally they'll work. But lately I've discovered Priceline Express Deals and Name Your Own Price. I got a room at the Renaissance at LAX for $100 last month using NYOP (best rate I could get was $211). Last week, I got a room at the Sofitel in Hollywood for $236 using Express Deals, the lowest rate by calling them was $411.

Doesn't work as well with federal rate, I get asked for my Federal ID more than 50% of the time.
