Going to a conference in Salt Lake City next month for business but I'll have a few days before the meetings start so I was seriously thinking about going to Southern Utah and at least seeing the Arches and Canyonlands Parks. I've been to Zion and Bryce Canyon before but felt like I missed out by not having time to see some of the others. I was planning on staying around Moab--looks pricey but it's just me so I'm looking for cheap lodging and opt to spend my money on other things.

Any suggestions as to places to stay or can't miss things to see? TIA.

If you wind up in moab, make the trek Milt's Stop and Eat for a burger and a shake. Best place in town.

Get a cabin here in Moab. It's the only place I stay.

Just visit arches and canyonlands each 1 day since you'll be on a fairly tight schedule. Make sure to visit island in the sky. Drive south one morning really early and watch the sunrise at Wilson Arch, which is an arch on the side of the highway that IMO is the second to best one behind Delicate. Soon to be the best because I can't imagine Delicate lasting longer than I do unfortunately.

Try to swing through Capitol Reef. More rural than the other national parks, but that makes it really raw and naturally stunning.

Enjoy. Utah is the second to best state in the country behind Montana IMO, and if they would get their beer laws in order with the rest of the world they would be the best.
