I'll be in Park City this week and am planning a day trip to solitude on Saturday. My question is, how difficult is it to get up big cottonwood canyon in your own vehicle? I am renting a 4x4 SUV but am not sure if it will have snow tires. If it's a really snowy day am I better off taking the park n ride bus from the base of the canyon?

Can't speak for driving, but the bus is a breeze. You could always find the first stop at the bottom of the canyon for a quick drop off. It is a short ride and gives you a little time to rest. Brighton is my favorite place to board out of the 10 or so places I have been. Solitude is right behind it. Quality of snow is hard to beat and very quiet

I came down the mountain from Brighton in a light to medium snow, was not a huge deal, but would not want to do it in a true snow storm. Loved the small town feel of Brighton, great snow
