Heading there for work. Should have a full afternoon free.

Where should I eat? What should I try and check out?

Doghouse Grill is probably the most well known restaurant. Its just a casual spot...maybe good for lunch and a beer. I think they've been getting decent restaurants opening up lately, so just yelp whatever you're in the mood for that day.

As far as things to do...I have no goddamn clue I'll ask my wife later..she's from there.

If you have time, make a quick trip over to Sequoia National Park, the size of the trees are incredible.

worse fog I've ever been in was in Fresno one morning, literally could not see the car in front of me trying to drive back to airport to catch a flight

You're not kidding. I live in the central valley also...i've had to make several blind turns on the way to work in dense fog. A few days a year the fog gets ridiculous

We get the marine layer along the coast pretty good during the summer. I was complaining about it to a friend from the central Valley. She laughed at me and relayed similar stories about the tule fog. Sounds awful.
