Hotel Davanzati.
Love it.
Small hotel just a couple of blocks from the cathedral
Easy walking distance to just about any place you would want to go.
Good breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktail hour.
My favorite.

Hotel Spadai. 5 star hotel, literally could throw a stone and hit the Duomo.

We stayed in the northern end of Florence at the Hilton Garden Inn Florence Novoli. It was cheap, very nice, good AC and an easy train ride to the city center.
